I wish I knew this sooner. Mister Peepers is now airing weeknights at 8:00 on RTN. I just saw it listed on my television guide. This is the only place I saw it listed on the internet along with some other shows. I don't know how many people still get this channel. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. lol

I've seen a few episodes of Mr. Peepers on RTN, the video and audio quality aren't very good, but I think it's the best that's available. I also suspect that the episodes are edited for TV in order to fit in the mandatory commercial time. As for the show itself, it's strange and very dated, almost unwatchable today. That's the problem with many of these shows from the earliest days of TV, they have become dated and unwatchable. And in the case of Mr. Peepers, include the fact, for me at least, that I'm not really a Wally Cox fan. The show is best viewed as a curio item and part of TV history, but that's about it.

Following Mr. Peepers on RTN, currently, is an episode of Barbara Stanwyck's 1960-61 anthology show. While not a classic for the ages, I find these episodes far more watchable and entertaining. The 1960-61 TV season was an interesting one, actually the entire 60's TV decade was interesting, I find it fascinating. By far my favorite decade for TV.

The eps I saw I enjoyed- and it's great seeing Marion Lorne being dizzy as a mortal.

I especially enjoyed seeing Wally Cox as a more easygoing teacher after viewing him as hard nosed Professor Paterson in a classic Adv. Of Ozzie and Harriet ep.

Of the 125 produced episodes, 102 are known to be extant today. According to SFM's website, 100 episodes are available for syndication.

This leads me to assume that Retro does indeed show installments from the last two years that have not been released on DVD. Can anyone confirm as much? (I don't get the station.)

I found this thread by accident and have never heard of this show and a few of my questions are why has it never aired before this revival in my large market and why has it never been on cable.Why is it almost unwatchable today?
What is strange about it?
Why are the other two shows not available for syndication ?
It seems to be there are enough episodes for at least semi-normal syndication

Well, the show was broadcast live, meaning that all extant episodes are taken from kinescopes. In addition to this lower A/V quality, the high number of currently missing episodes (which are sporadic throughout the run) has also probably been a deterrent.

Furthermore, I'm not sure if it was EVER syndicated off-network in the pre-cable era, meaning that there's not a great demand for the show as not enough viewers remember or are even aware of its existence -- hence the poor sales of the two DVD releases.

I seriously doubt that SFM paid to transfer the last 2 seasons episodes. So, I would think that they are just showing the ones we already have on DVD.

Not lucky anymore as I lost the channel a few years ago. lol
