Cool

In the older picture he looks a lot like his Dad, Harvey Lembeck!

I think he not only resembles his dad, but sounds like him also when he speaks.

YES!!! They are such New Yorkers!! I Missed a few eps , but was Max supposed to have been from Houston? Or did he just move there for a job after he and Julie married? I think it was said before that he had family in Houston? Why didn't they just make him be from New York or New Jersey ? It is obvious from his accent that he is from there! But I might have missed something like I said?

Does anyone here know the full background/back story on Max?

I have the Mary Hartman complete series DVD, Michael Lembeck is in that show, he plays the role of goofy TV reporter Clete Meisenheimer. His role in One Day At A Time is much different, a young, normal, family type of guy.

BonnieGirl....I've just started watching the show again on AntennaTv...been way more years then I would like to even calculate since I've watched this show. I did watch back 'in the day', probably when it was originally aired, so I couldn't tell you the background story of Max...but now I think I'll do a little googling to see what may be stated about his characters background.

I vaguely remember these last episodes, so I'm actually enjoying watching. I dvr them every evening, so hoping I'll catch the whole series over a period of time.

I always equate Michael with being a little mini-me of his dad!

Well, here is one more edit I'm watching last nights show...and Max has learned Julie is leaving him and the baby, and he says he is going back to Houston to be with his family, so there is our answer!

I remember watching Mary Hartman with my sister. it was on late night. So only on summer nights and if it was during school, just Friday nights. We watched on the little portable TV because Mom and Dad were watching the news and than the Tonight show on the big living room TV !

I do remember that Clete Meisenheimer. We thought he was really cute! Michael Lembeck popped up in lots of shows back around than, but I never really knew his name. Just when he came on I'd think he was good looking! In a way back than with his dark puffy long 70's hair he kind of reminded me of the guy who played Marcia's boyfriend on the Brady Bunch . The ep where she works at the Ice cream parlor and he comes in with another girl! But that actor is Michael Grey! They sort of resemble each other though!

I will post pictures later. I saw some the other day , but I don't have time to look them up and post right now!

LOL!! A Mini Me of his Dad!! That's a good one!

Yeah when Max first came on the show with Fred ( Julie's fiancé ) , I remember Fred having a Southern type accent. So they were friends from Houston! I know it's just a TV show and I'm over analyzing , but come on!! Max's accent is so NOT a Texas accent! LOL!!! Maybe his family moved from New York to Houston when he was a teenager or something!

Yes! I saw recent pictures ! She actually looks prettier now than when she played Judy on Welcome back kotter! On WBK she was the nerdy, smart girl so they played her looks down! But I always thought she had a cute face and if she played a cool, popular girl they would have had her fixed up and she would have been hot!

I liked her better on Magic Mongo. They upped her sex appeal in that one. She was funnier and she hot in her green swim suit and as a cheerleader.

Here is Michael's Dad , Harvey Lembeck from All in the family. This ep. was on yesterday. He was one of the guys from the WW2 convention when Pinkie played the practical joke on Archie in" Archie's other wife" !

Harvey was in all of the Beach Party movies in the 60s as Eric Von Zipper. That franchise included of course the famous Beach Blanket Bingo. I think there were 9 movies in all. Sadly Harvey passed away just a few years before the revival movie Back To The Beach (1987), I'm sure he would have reprized his role had he been alive.

Speaking of the beach. Harvey guest starred on CHIPS ! I was watching my Season 1 DVD the other day ! There was an ep where Ponch & Jon were burned out from Highway patrol duty, so they were able to get a stint at working Beach Patrol at Malibu!! Harvey played a guy who was driving a champagne delivery truck and got in an accident because he was looking at the girls in their bikinis!!! And the champagne bottles were popping open and he was all worried and upset thinking his boss would think he had had drank them. He was hilarious in this part, showed his comedic talent . Much funnier than he was on All in the family , he didn't do much!

That was a shame, he passed away pretty young. And ya know Michael was playing Max on ODAAT at the time his Dad passed away. I can imagine how sad he was! I wonder if some eps worked around him not being on the show, so he could mourn his Father some! They are Jewish, and I know in Jewish tradition they have the funeral and all right away when a person passes, but still he would want some time off of work being it was his Father passing so young! I'm thinking it was a heart attack and unexpected!
