Default Who do you think is funnier: Max or Mark?

I liked Mark better because his humor was dry and it was unexpected. Max was too obvious that he was trying to be funny.

I agree. Not only did Mark have a dry sense of humor, but it seemed real. Max sometimes seemed phony to me.

The two had totally different personalities and different type of humors! Hard to make a decision on who was funnier? Now on who I prefer, is a different thing, I like Max better, I'm more attracted to Max!

Now if you were to ask me if I like Julie or Barbara better? Two very different girls, I like them both , and since they are girls I can't go on who I'm attracted to!!!

I'm a Gemini, we see all different sides to everything and everybody!! ! LOL!!!

Max always seemed like a jerk. Not likeable at all.
Mark was more natural and likeable.

Mark's sense of humor is more in line with mine, so I'll go with him. [ I'm also Gemini. What date do you have?]

You have to keep in mind too, that Boyd Gaines ( Mark) was playing the "good girls" man! In the show and in real life! His job was steady! Valerie wasn't going away anytime soon.! On the other hand Michael Lembeck ( Max) was playing" bad girl" Julie's husband and a very self destructive, drug addicted MacKennzie Phillips in real life! If Mack messed up again and obviously went back to drugs. Michael must have felt his job was in jeopardy too! If there wasn't Julie in the show, they wouldn't need Max/husband right? Where as Boyd Gaines didn't have that to worry about!

Maybe it came through in the show, as to why Boyd (Mark) seemed more relaxed and natural than Michael (Max) did?

They did bring back Max's character without Julie a few times. I could see them continuing to add him to story lines even if Mackinze had never returned. Like they did with Alex.

I just always saw him as a guy that stole his best friend's (almost)wife...lol

Yeah if he was somebody in real life he would be a jerk, but for a soap opera-ish comedy show he was good for the part!

And my ulterior motive is that he looks HOT, that's why I like him!!

I am getting to like Mark now too! The ones I could do without are Alex and Francine!

Cool

Michael Lembeck (Max) comes from a good acting family. His father, Harvey Lembeck, was a regular on the Phil Silvers Show (Bilko) and his sister Helaine Lembeck had a recurring role on Welcome Back Kotter. Michael is now a very successful director of TV shows.

OMG!!! WOW!!! I didn't know that that they were brother and sister, Judy from Welcome back Kotter!! But yeah I see the family resemblance ! A shame they didn't have Michael guest star on Kotter sometimes!

Yeah I knew Harvey Lembeck was his father. Michael looks JUST like his Dad!

Including the pilot episode for Valerie Bertinelli's Hot in Cleveland. And nice note about his sister. I didn't know that one.

Helaine sounds so much like her Dad! She and Harvey both have a thick New York accent!

Yes they do!! I like thick NY accents, esp. Brooklyn where they are from! I just saw Harvey and Michael on the Partridge family a couple of weeks ago. And I was noticing Harvey's accent, very thick like Helaine's on Welcome back Kotter! Michael's accent isn't nearly as strong. It's still East Coast you can tell, but a lot more toned down than his Father and Sister! I wonder why? Same as Peyton and Eli Manning, the football quarterback Brothers. Peyton has a much more pronounced Southern/Louisiana accent than Eli does!

Here is Michael very young how he looked guest starring on the Partridge family ! It's a shame he wasn't added to the cast as a regular as Laurie's boyfriend!! That would totally work too, since he sang too and had a good voice it would be believable that they would date!
