Star Trek Theme Version on Me-TV - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

For the recent Me-TV airings of Star Trek (The Original Series), are they using the 2006 remastered prints with Trekkie fangirl Elin Carlson singing Loulie Jean Norman's vocal parts?

It should also be known that prior to the 2006 remasters, five different versions of the theme song were recorded over the years, three of them all during the first season. Although the Fred Steiner remix (with the cello performing the lead lines) is most familiar to us in the first season run, at least on the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" a different version of the theme song is heard where the lead line in the theme song is performed on an electric violin.

The first version was composed by Alexander "Sandy" Courage during filming for "The Menagerie" in January 1965. It consisted of Ms. Norman singing the lead lines over a mixture of muted trumpet, flute and organ.

The second version is the one where the electric violin plays the lead lines. This version was composed during filming of the episode "The Man Trap," and can still be heard in the closing credits on the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before."

Fred Steiner's remix was composed during filming of the episodes "The Corbomite Maneuver," "Balance of Terror" and "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" and, as I said before, the most commonly heard in season 1, especially in syndication.

It can be confusing, aside from "Where No Man Has Gone Before," as to which of the 1966 episodes used which of the two versions prior to the Fred Steiner mix. Only original NBC airings can help us here.

Loulie Jean returned to sing the lead melody for season 2, and was remixed for season 3.
