Default Tonight's 11pm ep "The Letter" you can tell Mack is back on drugs.

In this season eight episode, she is thin again. She has lost a lot of weight since the "Pride and Privacy" episode. Even in the "Pride and Privacy ep, it looked like she lost some of the weight but she really thinned out in "The Letter" episode. I hear that she began drugs again in 1982 which would be not too long after she came back to the show. She has had her ups and downs. The sad thing is that during the final season she loses even more weight. I understand why the producers asked for the drug test.

Yeah I noticed that. Her face looked gaunt!

The ep was cool though, kind of mysterious! And cool that it pretty much was just Ann and the girls like old times!

I noticed that too. She looked really bad, like she was going through withdrawal.

It did have that season one feel to it. Especially that shot of them all cleaning near the letter.

The ending was a little strange. I think she burned the letter because it was actually bad news.

Yeah, I didn't like the burning letter part but the rest of the story was good! Right , wasn't it kind of nice and homey with Ann and the girls and not the many over added character they acquired by the later seasons!

Notice Julie had a baggy top on too, like she was hiding a skeletal frame!

I noticed that too, she was wearing layers of oversized clothes like they made her wear the same maternity clothes that they still had in wardrobe.

Here is another thread about "The Letter" ep.,and how bad Julie looked again!!!

I am searching high and low for a thread on "Buyers remorse"! I know we must have had a discussion on that one!!! I mentioned it in another thread about Bob's marriage, but I'm positive we had a whole discussion going on about this last time it ran!!! I can't find it!!!

No she read the letter aloud, and it was clear that she was touched and relieved. She was just finally getting closure and moving on.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I felt there was enough ambiguity written in where one could argue that she was lying about the contents to spare the family.

IDK?? It was very strange that she burned the letter if what she read was indeed written in it!!! But if it wasn't, would she be able to come up with that so quickly. The KKKKatie thing?

She didn't seem upset, she seemed like she was in a surreal state when she left to go home!!! Unless it really was that Mr. Romano was leaving her for the Hat store owner and Katherine already knew he was or something? And the letter didn't surprise her that much and she was sparing the family? Or could it have been about that ring that Grandpa was going to get back to Barbara about ? Grandma wouldn't be able to let them know that was in the letter, getting Barbara in trouble! I doubt that scenario though!

It really was kind of a strange episode!!! Good though!!

I didn't buy the burning of the letter thing either.

The sad look on her face also made me think the letter said something she didn't want known to the group.

Fabray's acting was especially poignant considering she lost her own husband in a sudden way like Katherine did. If I remember correctly his death left her financially vulnerable and really shook her up emotionally. So the bereaved and bewildered expression on her face was very real.

So it's not really known/speculation as to what the letter actually said. Then she burned it to erase the evidence. Not good.

I still maintain the letter said what Grandma Romano read; she even explained the back story of it.

If anyone continues to doubt it's the truth, I suggest we have opus go and ask Val.

That won't work. Remember, she didn't read it. Only Grandma knows for sure.
