Question I wonder..

I was hearing on a talk show today how the Looney Tunes cartoon, "Speedy Gonzales" has been canned & won't be shown anymore due to it being "politically incorrect" towards Hispanics. I hear that a lot of Speedy Gonzales fans are upset due to it's being yanked, (including Hispanics who didn't see what was so politically incorrect about it in the first place.!)

I wonder if political correctness might be one of the reasons why CATM is rarely shown now... There were some stabs and jokes taken here and there towards Chico's heritage and his people.... But it shouldn't be seen as "P.I." because Chico was an honest, hard working, intelligent guy!

If that's the reason then why is All In The Family still on? It was probably one of the most politally incorrect shows of all time. It's a shame that politics can't see that we all live in this great big melting pot together...and diversity is what makes life here so interesting. It's a shame about Speedy Gonzales...

I agree with you Chicosladyfair! I hope that's not the reason why CATM is not being shown on TV anymore. If that's the case there are a slew of programs that shouldn't be airing.

You got that right. What about the Simpsons or King Of The Hill? I would say those are far worse than Looney Tunes as far as political incorectness.

Don`t you just love Big Brother doing our thinking, and feeling for us? This is the first I heard about Speedy. That is such a shame. I always liked Frito Bandito, but that was yanked years ago for the same reason Speed was. For those of you who don`t remember the Bandito, he was a cartoon for Frito corn chips. He was so cute.

Sad ?!?!?!?!?

In a perfect world, we would not have to sit around and speculate why, nor would political correctness even be necessary. We would all accept and enjoy each other for who we are, creatures of a divine creator. But alas, we do not live in a perfect world, so we are left to wonder why and try to cope the best way we can, trying to set some sort of example for others on what a perfect world would be like. And maybe that is the real reason Freddie struggled, because it is not a perfect world. My heart goes out to those who struggle with it like we all do, but somehow cannot not find the peace to deal with it. I have been there and know the pain. I pray for those who are on the brink of Freddie's way to find that peace and those who have taken the same road Freddie chose to travel. May the creator grant you the peace you have been seeking. Please do not give up hope, it is not a perfect world, but it's the only one we have. Ours is to make a better place of it, and try not to despair in it.
Forgive my ramblings, but when I read of injustice, it makes me introspective.

Yes I also agree. There are times however when I just have to wonder if people do these things just for attention. It sounds so petty...its just a cartoon which is comedy. We should all be able to laff at ourselves. Its not cruel in any way. I dont know, maybe I just dont get it
