I liked how the bickered. The writing was better before they started dating. The way she would get angry and the way he just acted passive aggressive about it was hysterical.
I loved how she referred to him as "footrest" in Ann Meets Nick part 1. |

To me there was no romantic chemistry between Bonnie Franklin and Ron Rifkin. The comedy was at its best when they were at each other's throats

They should never have paired them romantically, they worked better as battling colleagues. They had NO chemistry as lovers, it was kind of painful to watch them that way. Sam and Diane, they were not. Which leads me to my question. Which couple on the show had the best chemistry? Ann had plenty of suitors, who did she have the most sparks with? Julie had loads of spark with Greg Evigan and the vet. None with the documentary film maker, that was SO forced. Barbara and Mark ignited some big initial flames when they were arguing in Kokomo but the spark kind of fizzled somewhat towards the end of the run. They needed more one on one romantic time together, they were always surrounded by too many other people. The writers should have let them be sexier, they were kind of like brother and sister in some of the later episodes...On the other hand, Sam and Ann got LOTS of time by themselves to discover each other... Barbara and Max though inappropriate, had loads of chemistry. Well, what do you all think? Who sizzled, who fizzled? |
