the only unsolved mysteries case i recall involving an australian was, of course, that airplane that was abducted by a UFO - Frederick Valentich.
which i think is too bad. some of my fav crimes involving australia that i think should be on unsolved mysteries which might still be solvable although there has been a great passage of time include and i would like to see dramatization renactments 1- who abducted eloise worledge 2- who is mr cruel? 3- what happened to the beaumont children 4- adalaide oval abduction 5- talmun shud case |

Another great one would be the Mysterious disappearance of Prime Minister Harold Holt. Plenty of conjecture about that case.
Claremont Serial Killer in Perth would be one from my home town which still is still unsolved. |

Let's remember to stay on topic. A thread about cases from Australia that were NOT featured on UM should be started on our "All Other Cases" sub-board.

The Prime Minister seems to have gone for an impromptu swim in 1967 over the apparent protests of his entourage due to the roughness of the coastal waters at that time. Evidently within minutes, he disappeared into the surf never to be seen again and despite his entourage engaging and launching a massive search no known trace of him or his swimming trunks [all his known clothing at the time] were ever found. He was 59 . It's believed he drowned but there have been some who thought he did so deliberately. Still, inasmuch as no trace of him was ever found, there is somewhat of a mystery and, yes, I agree that this would have been a good story for the show to have done. |

I really do believe notorious "Backpacker Serial Killer" Ivan Milat killed far more people than he was ever brought to justice for. There was a spate of disappearances of young couples and pairs in and around Sydney in the late 70's early 80's.
