There are several reality shows that give out money for winning. That does not make them game shows. America's Funniest Home Videos is not and will never be a game show. Below is the description of it in my TV listings. In contrast I looked up two actual game shows. The genre for Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Celebrity Family Feud is listed as game show, unlike AFHV, for which the type of show is clearly stated in bold. And I'm pretty sure my onscreen guide also lists AFHV as reality.

Premise: Crotch kicks, anyone? Amateur videographers in the U.S. submit ones of their kids, pets, friends and families in funny situations -- often embarrassing -- with the hope of winning thousands in prize money. Each week, the studio audience determines a winner by voting for the one they find most-hilarious. At the end of the season, weekly winners compete for the grand prize. Actor -- and ``Dancing With the Stars'' Season 19 champion -- Alfonso Ribeiro serves as the host, and Vin Di Bona is the executive producer.

My on screen guide lists America's Funniest Home Videos as a comedy, which still isn't a game show.
