Default 20 years ago; Full House says Goodbye to abc; Lori Loughlin joins Hudson Street

Hey guys,

20 years ago this fall:

Full House took their Final Curtain Call after 8 Seasons and 192 Episodes on abc Prime Time and it ended w/a 1 Hr. Series Finale entitled "Michelle Rides Again" and the show ended @ #25 in the Nielsen Ratings and it was the 6th and Final Time that Full House was placed in the Nielsen Ratings Top 30

In the finale....

Part 1:

Michelle enters a horse riding competition and becomes friends with another contestant, Elizabeth. But when Danny and Elizabeth's mother put too much pressure on each of their children to win, Michelle and Elizabeth go off riding for fun instead of going through with the competition. When Michelle attempts to get her horse to jump over a log, the horse panics and Michelle is thrown off, hitting her head and being knocked unconscious. Meanwhile, Kimmy tries to find D.J. a prom date, Stephanie tries to rehearse for a play, and Jesse and Joey consider adding to their already busy agenda.

Part 2:

Michelle gets amnesia after suffering a concussion from a fall and cannot remember who she is or who her family is. Everyone tries different things to get Michelle to remember who she is, but nothing works. Stephanie's play partner, Andrew, kisses her after finding out that she has a crush on him and Kimmy has arranged for her boyfriend's cousin to be D.J.'s prom date. Towards the end, Michelle gets her memory back and everyone is overjoyed to find this out. Michelle has no memory of the accident and asks why everyone is so happy. D.J. explains that she hit her head after falling off her horse and Becky says that Michelle could not remember anything about who she was or anyone else. Michelle tells everyone that she could never forget them because they are her family, which Danny is happy to hear. Kimmy arrives and tells D.J. that her date could not make it. D.J. is disappointed that she will miss the prom, but Kimmy tells her that she found another date for her in and Steve (Scott Weinger) walks in the door. D.J. is happy to see him and they hug and tell each other they have been missed and share a kiss. The family greets Steve and Michelle asks Jesse how out of it she was. Jesse tells her that she was pretty out of it and that it was like a part of her was missing so then a part of all of them was, but that they got through it. Danny picks up Michelle and says "Just like we always will" as the episode ends.

Note: In the original airing, during the ending credits, the main cast members gave their final curtain call. Then, the words "Our Thanks, Our Love" appeared on the screen.

In 1995, despite the fact the show was still rated in the top 25, abc announced that it was canceling the show after eight seasons due to the increasing costs of producing the series. Upstart network The WB wanted to pick up the show, but John Stamos who played Uncle Jesse on the show announced that season 8 would be his last (he was mainly upset about Full House defecting from one of the "big four" networks to a network which had not yet received full national distribution; at the time, The WB's distribution outside of some large and mid-sized markets came primarily from the superstation feed of WGN-TV in Chicago).

Eventually, the other actors announced they were also ready to move on to other projects, thus ending the show's run after eight years. The one-hour series finale was watched by 24.3 million viewers, ranking # 7 for the week and attracting a 14.6 household rating and a 25% audience share.

after Full House closed its doors, with Bob Saget still hosting AFV for another 2 seasons until 1997, Lori Loughlin starred in the short lived sitcom called Hudson Street which aired on abc during the 95/96 Season replacing Full House and was squeezed in between Roseanne and Home Improvement

The series starred and was executive produced by Tony Danza (of TV's Taxi and Who's the Boss? Fame) and his production company called Katie Face Productions the same company that produced Before They Were Stars and the short-lived abc sitcom called George with George Foreman and was produced in association with Tri Star Television A SONY Pictures Entertainment Company and it was Created by Randi Mayem Singer who is best known for writing the screenplay to the 20th Century Fox blockbuster Mrs. Doubtfire starring the late Robin Williams, Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan and Brent Spiner of Night Court and Star Trek: The Next Generation Fame

The series concept according to TV Guide was known as Moonlighting Meets Barney Miller

Tony Danza starred as Tony Canetti, a divorced detective in Hoboken, NJ, who shares custody of his son Mickey with his ex-wife. Lori Loughlin played the role of idealistic crime reporter Melanie Clifford

In between work and raising his son, Canetti also starts a romance with Clifford

The series received good reviews and initially placed in the Top 10 (partly due to its placement between the abc hits Roseanne which was in the Top 20 and Home Improvement which was still in the Top 10), but the series couldn't hold on to its lead-in audience and was canceled after one season and only 22 episodes and the show was ranked in the Nielsen Ratings Top 40 @ #38

I wonder why every character that Tony Danza played were called "Tony"?

I don't know, I guess he likes his characters being called Tony

also, I needed to point out something else:

During the Final Season of Full House, Lori's hair was long, but when she starred in Hudson Street, Lori's hair was cut short

Know the difference?
