Question Questions & Observations

Cool, a Lilith episode was on last night! WOO-HOO! My favorite "Cheers" patron...

Which brings me to my list o' questions...I know some o' you "Cheers" divinities (so to speak) will be just itchin' to answer some of these.

1. I found it very interesting that Lilith wore her hair down in last night's Lilith episode (I can't remember the name---where she confronts Rebecca about the "affair" with Frasier). Since she was so adamant about almost always wearin' her hair in that tight, "tense" bun (lol), why do you suppose on rare times like last night she wore it down? Last night was the 2nd time I saw that episode, and it struck me as so, so interesting...I mean, she was home from the office, but still dressed up---wearin' pants, no less!---but her hair all down. It's just all odd and seemed kinda "un-Lilith-y".

The only other time I remember Lilith with her hair down is when she and Fraiser go on TV (that was to attract him), and when she got her new 'do (that looked kinda like Carla).

2. What exactly happened with Diane and Frasier's engagement? I have never seen any episodes where they get engaged, are engaged, or have any sort of "wedding" scene (if they even did). So what's the history there??

3. Speakin' of Diane and Frasier, when did Shelley and Kelsey not get along? I mean, was it all along, or did it happen as the series went on (and why, if we know)? And I assume they parted on kinda bad terms when she left "Cheers"?

4. "Have a good life." What a cryptic message! This could be interpreted in so many different ways...Did Sam say that thinkin' that Diane wouldn't come back to him? Did he say it not sure of himself and thinkin' maybe he wouldn't wait for her? Did he say it just cause they would be apart and he was insecure of what would happen in general?? Does anyone really have a sure answer? Whatever he meant, it was pretty poignant...

And if it didn't work out, why didn't Diane just return and marry Sam?? I didn't get that...I guess she wanted to do somethin' with her writing while she could...

5. The Diane and Carla dynamic of the show has always fascinated me...for a while in college I became a "Carla" in that I sure had my "Diane"! This guy who I could not stand was in a singin' group with me, and I didn't "hate" him or anything---I woulda come to his aid if he needed it---but I certainly did not care for him much, lol. Just like Carla and Diane, so you understand. Except he wasn't intellectual and haughty, he was just so annoying in other ways...ARGH...

Anyway, did Diane and Carla ever have a scene together where it was just the 2 of them as regular "Cheers" cast members in the scene? Like one night over the weekend, in a teaser Diane had tickets for a play and Sam encouraged Carla to go along.

Diane: "...Carla, you and I rarely do things together."
Carla: "We never do things together."

So was there ever a scene with just the 2 of 'em, or at least the 2 of 'em bein' the only regulars?

*Point of interest*: VERY interesting that Carla never mentions Diane in the 1st "post-Diane" episode...Hmmmm...you'd think she woulda been partyin'!

6. Aside from Norm (and of course Frasier), did Lilith ever a scene alone with another "Cheers" regular? The Norm one I remember is when he overstayed his welcome at F&L's house and L went to confront him at Cheers.

7. Sam and Rebecca---how did he buy the bar back (he did, didn't he? I think I remember he did), and did Rebecca go from manager to somethin' else, or did she still keep a lofty position? I didn't get to see many of those episodes from N@N's first run of 'em.

Well, I guess that's it for now. And I don't feel stupid or too specific in askin' these questions cause, like I said, I just know some o' y'all are itchin' to type your answers and comments!

Thanks,

Byron

Number 1- Maybe, Lilith ONLY wore he hair in a tight bun when she was out in public. Maybe, at home, it didn't matter. So, I think that might be a reason. You may never know eh'?

Number 2 for you! Frasier asked Diane to marry him over dinner while they were in italy. It was where they were in the restraunt and the 'chef' died. It was really odd. But he did ask her there. She then called sam to tell her and asked him to help her make the decision. Diane REALLY wanted Sam to tell her not to marry him because she really loved Sam. Diane finnally says yes to Frasier.

Then, in a dream sequence, Sam dreams that he goes to italy to stop the wedding. You see Frasier and Diane excanging vows and Sam says "Diane! Don't Do This!" Sam then takes Diane off on his arms while she kisses him. Frasier is stunned. And, as you know, Sam ACTUALLY went to Italy to stop the wedding but found out later that Diane left the alter and neevr got married. So, Theres number 2. Hope it helps.

Number 3- Right then, as soon as Kelsey joined the cast, there was always friction between the two. (Listen to the E! True Hollywood Story on E!) I assume that it did indeed go away after Shelley left because she repraised her role a few times on "FRASIER"

Number 4- This is an odd one. Sam never mentions after 6 months that Diane never returned to him. He doesn't say ANYTHING. The series just keeps going on. So, maybe, indeed, he KNEW that she wasn't comming back.

Number 7- I don't think Sam ever bought the Bar back, but MR. Drake (The one rebecca adored (LOVED)) came to Cheers to tell Rebecca that Sam is the new manager and tells Rebecca that she is De-Moted to barmaid (Another Diane) This happened in episode 147 "How to Recede in Business"

I hope that Helps! I'm not sure on 5 or 6. Anyone care to answer those?

5. Diane and Carla did a have one episode early in the series where they acted like the regulars. Sam got tired of their fighting and forced Diane and Carla to have a truce. After the bar closed and Sam left, Carla made some of her special drinks and she and Diane talked for a while. While they were talking, Carla told a huge lie about Sam being the father of her youngest child and swore Diane to secrecy.

6. I seem to remember at least one time where Lilith and Carla had a scene in the ladies room, possibly in the episode where Carla and John Hill start having an affair.

7. Sam did buy the bar back and got a pretty sweet deal for it as well. After all those years of saving, he paid a mere $0.85 to buy the bar again. The reason for this was that while Robin Colcord was dating Rebecca, he was using her computer to find out information about the company she worked for. Robin was using this information to embezzle money from the company. Sam and Rebecca found out about this while they were at his mansion and looked at his computer files. Sam and Rebecca printed up all the info and took it to the corporate office. Right before they were going tell their bosses about the embezzlement, Robin shows up, shreds all the information, and asks Rebecca to marry him. Rebecca, of course, accepts his proposal and leaves with Robin. So Sam picks up all the shredded paper, goes and tells the bosses everything.

Soon after, some guys from corporate and offer to sell the bar to Sam for a dollar. Sam doesn't have a dollar and he's only able to collect $0.85 from everybody. The corporate guys accept the $0.85. Celebration breaks out. Then Rebecca walks out of the office carrying a box due to her being fired. Sam hires her back at the end of the next episode, after seeing her humilate herself at a car show.

#6-
If you saw last nights episode about the one where Sam is "Up For Auction" and Lilith bids $2000.00 for him, they go to the INN and are in that seen together. Episode number 129 enititled "Bidding on the Boys". That helps!

And if it didn't work out, why didn't Diane just return and marry Sam?? because shelly long left the show. lol, but in the series finale she explains why.. basically she didnt want to come back a failure.

Thanks for your sympathy for "my Diane"... I really like Diane, I just don't like "a" Diane if I'm a Carla toward that Diane---LOL!

And no, don't feel like you shouldn't post, samsgirl---I love gettin' all kinds of input and opinions from different people! For instance, I didn't realize she was afraid to come back a failure, so that clears up why she didn't just come back to Sam...and of course Shelley wouldn't be back, I should have thought of that... lol
