Fred was a cutie pie! Not very bright though! Poor Fred. He didn't even realize something was going on till the very end when he overheard Julie and Max AT the wedding! Not even a clue when she ran out at the rehearsal and said she didn't want to get married!

And that Max!!! My Gosh he's a jerk! WOW, what nerve that guy has! I mean your best friends girl/fiancé !!! But than on the other hand, he felt love at first sight, and in that respect it was romantic. Also Max is really good looking too, in a much different way than Fred is! Boy, Julie was lucky having two such nice looking guys both wanting to marry her!

What was really shocking (and cold), but it is TV after all and they did it for dramatic affect! In real life if you decided to not marry the groom because you were in love with the best man instead. Don't ya think the wedding would just be called off, and you and the best man would just plan another wedding at a different time? I mean POOR Fred. WTF!!! That was really mean and sad for him!!!

Thumbs down

That 2 parter was horrific on every level.

Max came off as a self centered jack ass who was extremely disloyal to his best friend and seemed like he was stalking Julie.

Julie looked like she was just removed from a feeding tube, she was so frighteningly thin and gaunt. And yet she had these two hunks fighting over her. Only 19 and she has this insta marriage to Max after she realized Fred wasn't the one for her? Couldn't they have played out their courtship a little bit? Mark Royer at least was written on the show with a little finesse. They just forced Max on us and it was painful to watch the awkward chemistry they had initially. Mack looked like she was high when she was reading her dialogue.

And sweet dumb, gorgeous Fred doesn't even have the satisfaction to tell either of them what jerks they were to him after he dragged all of his relatives for the outdoor ceremony, just to be dumped like trash?

The writers were obviously high when they wrote this jump the shark episode.

I learned to like Max over the years but I hated the way they introduced him.

YEP!! Only on TV could this happen! LOL!! She did look extra bad in these two eps. accept at the actual wedding, she did look kind of pretty than. The makeup and hair crew did a good job! But what was up with that weird IDK what you would call it that she was wearing? It was white OK, but not a wedding gown. It was like a wedding suit or something? Maybe it was supposed to be casual cause the wedding was at the park! IDK, but it was weird!

So what in the heck happened? Fred and his guests /his family just left and said nothing when Julie decided Max , the best man was for her, and the wedding went on? Far fetched to say the least! LOL!!!! Not only Fred and his family and guests being mad and upset. I think Julie's family and friends would be like come on this isn't right! But yet they all just went along with it and seemed happy!

I mean come on!! In real life how would something like this really play out?

Perhaps they should have made it into a longer arc. It all seemed rushed and forced and preposterous.

Why couldn't she have just met Max on a plane or something?

BTW, Julie's dress was pretty and very much of its time but she looked dead in the eyes. BTW, Karen Carpenter had a similar wedding dress around that time, if my memory is right. Both of them looked as thin as a rail.

I am glad Mack is doing so well now, though.

Wow, my memory is really off.

Julie and Karen's dresses do not look anything alike. (thanks Google!)

I'm sorry if I came off rude last night with this comment! I'm usually a sweet, sunny disposition type of person, but I have a rare snarky side sometimes. I was in a snarky mood when I posted this!

You didn't come off rude at all, Bonniegirl. I was amused by your comment.

BTW, I love your new avatar as much as I loved Blondie and Dagwood. Very cute!

Thank you Anna! The last thing I want to do is make trouble here!

About my avatar, I like to change them up every so often. I love the Flintstones and with June tomorrow and the hot summer on the way, I thought Wilma and Betty at the beach would be appropriate !

I didn't think Max was a jerk or a jackass, I just got that he saw the truth in the situation; that Julie really did love him and only "thought" she loved Fred, which she wasn't letting herself see until Max forced her too. In fact, I thought Max was doing a favor, saving her from having to get a divorce before she married him!

But poor Fred though, he's such a good-looking guy, it's a shame they didn't cast him as a regular to the show somehow---maybe marry him to Barbara? haha, lol.

Yeah, I thought about that too! If my sister had decided to marry the best man instead of her intended right in the middle of the wedding. And the original groom was a nice guy and good looking, I'd make a play for him! LOL!! They should have had Barbara get together with Fred!
