Was it ever explained why he wore the same clothes for 9 years?

Those are his work clothes. Most of the time he is on the job.

He worked as the superintendent and those were his work clothes. 2 + 2 still equals 4 right? If it does then this was such a simple answer to figure out. LOL!

Yeah, pretty much. But there is a kernel of truth. He worked "at home", not like, say, those UPS guys you see in the same corporately mandated outfit everyday. Did he have 7 of those outfits? Did he do laundry every day? A super probably gets pretty sweaty.

I actually thought I'd get the answer that we only saw him once a week and he just happened to be wearing that on those days

What always got me was the full pack of cigarettes rolled up in his sleeve !

In answer to Opus's question, he probably had a bunch of white T-shirts and a few pairs of jeans. Maybe bought the same brand and they all looked alike. And than the same vest, which wouldn't get sweaty !

Yes that always stood out on the show when came in the door with on his shoulder lol
