Default History Lesson in the episode...."Going nowhere"

Julie said she met someone more depressed than her and Barbara said........"YOU MET THE MAYOR OF CLEVELAND!!! LOL So of course I had to go and find out on google what she was talking about and it turned out the mayor of Cleveland, Dennis Kucinich going through all of this in 1978

Jan of 1978.....Worst blizzard in Cleveland History

August of 1978........Recall Election because the city wanted him out as mayor

December of 1978.......City of Cleveland was broke having their own Great Depression

BTW: Jay Leno's acting in this episode was not that good

Little did Barbie know how important Cleveland would eventually become to her.

I haven't heard from him lately. I remember when he chipped a tooth (or something along those lines) in the Congressional cafeteria and was threatening to sue someone. And I remember he had a (young) Amazon-size model wife who was about twice his height. He's probably not depressed about her. And I remember him trying to defend his comments about seeing UFOs.

As for the comment about Cleveland, what year did the lake catch on fire? That's what I thought they might be referring to.

I thought maybe it was just a general reference as to how people joke about Cleveland being "the mistake by the lake".

Funny Barbara made a joke about Cleveland, and then 31 years later she would go on to star on Hot in Cleveland, lol.

and since on Hot In Cleveland the Betty White character became the mayor(don't ask), she ended up living with the mayor of Cleveland.

A study guide for tonights show. And since Jay Leno is in it, makes a nice companion piece to the David Letterman Mork and Mindy episode(a real thing).

I just watched. Jay, while obviously no Meryl Streep, was fine in his 6 minutes of screen time as the kooky guy.
