Dick York was a very active B list actors in films, but an accident on the job doing a film caused him an injury that progressively crippled him, and caused York to be addicted to drugs for the pain. York was not compensated for the accident, his career was cut short, he ended up nearly destitute from it.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_York York died in poverty in Michigan, but living for someone like him who was elderly, on social security in a painful crippling condition was running a successful charity to help the homeless and he spent his time on the phone using his name to solicit contributions from politicians, celebrities and others. Seemed like a very decent man, and he was blessed to have the wife of his youth stay with him the rest of his life. If Kelly Cuoco can get one (which is a joke), someone like York deserves it a hundred times more, and this comes from someone who thinks Bewitched was a lame 60's show (except for the Paul Lynde episodes!). |

People are always confused about the "walk of fame". It is NOT the "hall of fame" thus it has nothing to do with merit. Hell, I think John Stamos has a star on it. For a star on the walk of fame, someone has to be nominated and it has to be paid for by someone, whether they were well accomplished in the acting profession or not. Being "deserving" has absolutely nothing to do with it.
