He gets the Gold! He's come a long way from little Opie. Congratulations to Ron Howard on winning TWO Academy Awards for directing A Beautiful Mind and for Best Picture!
He deserves it--it's a wonderful movie.

Yes he has come a long way!
I wonder what Andy Griffith and Don Knotts think of him now, because they have literally watched him grow-up. I was glad to see him win, because he was long overdue! I was also glad to see Denzel Washington finally win! |

I was rooting for Ron to win, and he finally won an Oscar this year! It was good to see, and I enjoyed it immensely. He's had such a wonderful directing career, and it baffles me that this was his first Oscar award. So many great movies of the past, but this was finally his year. Way to go Ronnie!

Yes, congratulations to Ron Howard!
It seems rather stupid of Hollywood to deny the accomplishments of certain people. Child actors have always had to overcome the stigma of their young careers and never allowed to advance on their early work for what ever dubious reasons. Maybe now Tinsel Town will use more objectivety in their judgments of child actors. |

Helios31, you are so right.
However, if Ron Howard had stayed an Actor, he would still be faced with the same problems as other former child actors. Unfortunately I do not think much will change in this area any time soon, but perhaps there will be more former child actors who will go into directing. Ron Howard set a standard, now it is up to today's child actors to follow in his foot-steps. |
