Default Roseanne one of the ten worst TV moms of all-time?

NY Daily News thinks so...

The whole point of Roseanne’s character in Roseanne Barr’s self-titled sitcom is that by most rational standards, she was an appalling mother. That’s the “com” part of “sitcom.” But even if we all got the joke, she was still a terrible mother.
I disagree! Roseanne, while not perfect (what mom was?) was nowhere near a terrible mother. She didn't beat her kids (well, did slap DJ's butt in that one episode), worked pretty much from the start of the show to the end to help provide for her family, gave them a roof over their head, fought their battles (how many run-ins did she have with Becky or Darlene's teachers?) and did everything, if not more, we ask of a mother.

Noway should she be on a list with Livia Soprano!

Right?

Roseanne wasn't perfect. She could be overbearing and annoying at times, but she truly loved her children. And I think she did try her best. Yes, a lot of her methods were unorthodox, but nothing she ever did endangered her kids. To call her one of the worst is not fair.

She wasn't a horrible mother, she did what she thought was best. Yes she was sarcastic and could be overbearing at times. But she never verbally abused or physically abused her children. She pushed them because she wanted them to do better than she and Dan did.

I think Roseanne is a great TV mom. She's funny, caring, and loving. Roseanne Conner is in my top 5 favorite TV moms.

I disagree with the NY Times article. In the first 3 or 4 seasons, Roseanne wasn't a great mom, but she wasn't a bad mom by any means. I think the Times is confusing bad mom with realistic mom. Just because she wasn't a June Cleaver type didn't make her a bad mom.

Default Bad Rosie.

She set a bad example for her son when she kept accepting the stoves that didn't belong to her.

I think that was her lowest point as a bad mom.

I don't know if you'd call her a worst mom. She loved her kids, none of them were pregnet in school or did drugs or drank or went to jail.

Good one.

She got more sympathetic by the end though.

Penny's mother, Leona Gordon on Good Times comes to mind for me. Thank God, Wilona came along to rescue little Penny. Such a great performance from Chip Fields. She should have gotten an Emmy for that one. Underrated actress

Also, David and Mark's mother, Mrs. Healey gave me chills.

This list was obviously compiled by someone who has never seen The George Lopez Show.
