David and Vicki were both young and wanted kids of their own. Ann and Ed did not want anymore kids. They had their kids already. It wasn't fair to David or to Vicki. Fortunately for David, he found out before he and Ann got married. He was hurt, but it was for the best. On the other hand, Vicki went ahead and married Ed, but she tells Ann that she doesn't dare discuss having kids with Ed because she sees him look at Julie and Barbara and knows that he has already had his kids and doesn't want anymore. We never find out if Ed and Vicki stayed together or not. She really wanted her own kids, but why would Ed want to start all over again? It makes perfect sense that David and Vicki would naturally want to have kids, and you had to feel sorry for both of them. At least when Ann did remarry, she married a man who also already had kids and didn't want anymore either.

I wonder why they didn't let Vicki and Ed have kids, it might have created some stories about those twits being jealous of his new family.
