DRAMATIC!!!
Damm I thought Maude was a sitcom with tons of serious episodes but One Day at a Time is the clear cut winner when it comes to dramatic situations. One day at a time has so many serious episodes that I don't think a live audience was needed. lol Maude atleast had laugh out loud moments in addition to all the serious episodes. One Day at a Time makes Maude look LIVELY and I didn't feel that way about Maude until I had a chance to watch One Day at a Time LOL

Yeah, I'm discovering this show rarely makes me "lol"...I can tell because last night in "Ann's Secretary" there were a couple of times Julie made me "lol!", and Schneider did once, and I realized, "Whoa, I hardly laugh out loud at this show", lol.
It also must be the most "to be continued" show in television history! 4-parts, 2-parts, 3-parts, jeez, the opener of season 3 took a month to get through! It sure is nice to have these back-to-back nightly. Now with DVR you can watch a 4-parter that would take a month to get through in its original schedule, in less than two hours, lol. |

Stop dissing my show dude. LOL! Don't watch my show just to insult it. JK
The first couple of seasons were kind of dramatic but the show has some comical moments as well. PS: How is the show new to you guys when some full episodes were on YouTube and season 1 is out on DVD. I don't see how anyone could not have seen at least an episode or 2 before it came to Antenna TV. |

I wrote and started a well written thread on the history of ODAAT, took the time and gave series facts as well as where to search out other history of the series through specials and books. So far it has been up a week, read nearly over 100 times and not one response!
I wrote it from an original viewers point of view for others like myself and the newbies. I rarely respond to these posts just because its about perspective, I spent my life in the television industry (33 years) and don't worry why a script writer or show creator "let the castaways have all their luggage on a 3 hour tour" so to speak.....these are harmless everygreen sitcoms and it is wonderful for so many to discover ODAAT after being one of the few Lear sitcoms to be ignored for so long. At least an advid follower of Lear's also ignored classic satrical soap Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman is on DVD complete. I say respectfully because I won't get into flame wars, keep watching if you wish I have written repeated ODAAT goes through a series of changes from season to season, with each of the 9 different. By the end it was a standard sitcom, with Bonnie playing 3rd fiddle to now star Valerie bertinelli, both girls married, "Julie" character coming and going due to personal drug abuse, but had a child baby Ann with Max on the series. Remember it was the 70's and like everyother decade of TV, if you weren't there like the science fiction driven 60's, you really didn't live it! |

after your over 86,000 posts I would love to hear some personal info about you, only if you wish to share of course, you seem like a great guy with extreme insights to factual all things TV. I respect your extreme passion and professional way you kindly reply to threads and start them. Honestly! In another thread we posted and you said "great I will watch every episode", I hope you do, again you seem like a very open minded person, my guess maybe a professional writer? But remember the old saying "sometimes less is more". Enjoy every second of "One Day At A Time" my dear friend here at sitcoms, lastly......"Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see or read in this case". Have a wonderful weekend and continued healthy fun life with family, friends, loved ones and yes your always friend here teeveecloset! |

TVFACTFAN, there is no law against talking about his personal experience in the industry so please don't ask him to stop.
I don't like the way you talk about this show or how you address people at times but since I am not in charge I won't ask you to stop. None of us on here can make up our own rules so let's respect the rules already put in place |
