I've never seen a single episode of this series but I may pick it up just because of the TV on DVD collector in me. I'm excited for all the new releases from VEI especially the announcement of "Grace Under Fire"!

Since MeTV won't air this show (or possibly Decades or Antenna TV), it's definitely on my wish list

Like someone else stated, it's a "cute show", tlc, nothing more.

I watched it first-run when it premiered as a mid-season replacement in the Spring of 1979. With MORK & MINDY as its' lead-in ANGIE scored huge ratings and was #13 among all shows on the air by season's end. The cast was definitely better than the material, which was your typical sitcom fodder.

When ratings champ ABC got greedy and thought they could dominate every night of the schedule by moving around all their powerhouse hits to new nights and times, ANGIE began its' second season in LAVERNE & SHIRLEY's old slot @ 8:30 on Tuesdays. This move proved to be disastrous for all as MORK, LAVERNE and ANGIE's ratings all plummeted and by the end of '79 ABC was scrambling to fix what they had screwed up.

ANGIE got canceled at the end of its' second season not only because of the timeslot change and ratings slump, but the premise of the modern-day Cinderella and culture clash between the families was something the writers had trouble expanding on.

Despite its' problems, ANGIE touched a lot of viewers because so many remember it fondly despite its' short run (the memorable theme song no doubt helped solidify it in pop-culture consciousness).

I am looking forward to the DVD but not sure it will warrant marathon-viewing the way others like MAUDE or RHODA can.

Wonder what lead to this show being released on DVD? Shocking news.

It's too many episodes on youtube for me to buy this show on DVD

It is coming because Toronto-based VEI has acquired many of the stalled-on-DVD CBS series such as Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Matt Houston and Hotel. Angie was part of the package deal. I am thrilled we will be getting clear, uncut episodes on DVD rather than a handful of blurry, cut shows that appear on Youtube. I prefer to watch TV on my TV.

When it came to short-lived shows the quality only needed to be a C- since it was not in syndication.
