Default Turns out I DO get the LAFF Channel which means I get to see Empty Nest

I thought I posted about the LAFF Channel and how I didnt get the channel in a thread but I cant find it. Well, anyway, this past Friday I found out that I get the LAFF Channel which means I get to watch Empty Nest.

I think the timeslots are a little to be desired. Yes, 10 and 10:30am but 2 and 5am as well? They could easily scrap the movies and add some airings of the show. I like the way there airing it too. Seems uncut.

DIRECTV is crappy when it comes to adding new channels.

I'm thinking about switching to Dish Network. At least they offer Laff, Family Net, & Get TV. I'm not sure if they also have Antenna TV or MeTV in my area. I may call them later today just out of curiosity.

I'd really like to get Laff. They air lots of sitcoms that I like...Drew Carey, Cybill, Night Court, Ellen, Grace Under Fire, Empty Nest...

However, I'm not too fond of their movies.

If you ask Directv for an ar21 tuner you can hook it up to your directv box and it will add those channels to your guide the tuner works great. I got one 5 years ago and it love it.

I called Directv and they had no clue what a ar21 was.

That was the other thing I forgot to mention. Its pretty obscure and most regular reps are clueless. You may have to press for a manager or Tech Support. You can google it and see what I am talking about. Also if you ask they should give it to you free of charge.

Just to show you how clueless they are about it here it is on the directv website

Thanks for the link on their site.

I called AGAIN before you posted the link and spoke with LaToya (probably LaToya Jackson lol) and she said they didn't offer them anymore because all local channels were now offered through directv. I tried to explain to her that I was wanting to pick up OTA channels...she acted like she didn't even know what MeTV, Antenna TV, or OTA channels were. I guess I'll try AGAIN later today and reference that link.

I've been asking about a AR21 tuner. Should I ask about AM21 like the online manual states?

Sorry about that yeah Its Am not ar.

Not sure why they are like that. We know that they don't offer all the OTA channels. I get like a bunch they don't offer.

If you really want those channels and you are able to get them in your area OTA I would suggest keep trying. You may need to escalate to a Tech Support Manager. It was a headache for me to get one too, but that was like 5-6 years ago. There are very few people who know about those.

If you are successful they are easy to set up. I can help walk you through, because directv will be no help

I FINALLY got someone after insisting to speak with someone who knew about it. I told them I KNOW it exists, I see it online.

The lady told me she knew what I was talking about but they didn't offer them anymore. They were originally only offered to people who couldn't pick up their local channels in their area and they had to have one of these. At least I got to talk to someone who knew what I was talking about. She was very knowledgeable.

She did tell me I could probably just buy one on Amazon.....that's my next stop.

Yeah not very many people know about it a friend of mine got one a couple years back they said the same thing that they didn't offer them anymore. He ended up playing the I have been a customer for a long time card and it worked. Sucks if you have to go to Amazon because that means you will have to pay for it. Hopefully its reasonable.

^I have been a customer for a long time....since 2000.

I called Dish Network and they told me that Laff, MeTV, Buzzr, & Antenna TV would all be available in my area if I switched to Dish....so I did.

I called back later to find out what channels they would be on and the man said they only offered Laff. Needless to say, this has been a day of "getting nowhere". I canceled my appointment to set up Dish equipment. I'm just going to keep Directv. It's not worth switching services just for Laff and Family Net....they also offer Fetv which is sort of like Cozi.
