The next series of posts I'm planning on doing involves a number of Celebrities who, before finding fame in their own right, were Game Show Contestants.
The first person: Candy Bergen, who at age 11, in 1958, was a Civilian Contestant on the hit '50s game show "You Bet Your Life," 30 years before finding fame in her own right as TV's "Murphy Brown," which lasted 10 years on CBS. Not to get TOO off-topic, but I wanted to apologize if some of you found my last post offensive; I was trying to be funny and make a joke. Back to the topic at hand: also appearing on the episode with Candy was her famous father, Edgar, who was playing for Charity. |

There was an episode of You Bet Your Life where Edgar and Candice Bergen appeared on the show along with Groucho's daughter Melinda. Both fathers and daughters participated in the quiz segment and George Fenneman took over as host. Both Candice and Melinda won money for the Girl Scouts.
