What I mean is that he willingly sacrificed/compromised his comedic sensibilities (if you believe the stories that he was a "dirty" comedian before Full House) in favor of starring in a corny, cheeseball, schmaltzy family sitcom. I mean, Redd Foxx was a dirty stand-up comedian too, but when he did Sanford and Son, he didn't sacrifice his "persona" or comedic edge in the transition.

I never thought about it before, but when you put it that way then yes, Bob Saget does seem like a sellout. He was a cornball on America's Funniest Home Videos too.

As for Redd Foxx, he may have kept his comedic edge on Sanford & Son, but I'm sure he would have loved for it to be much more risque than it was.

to me he isn't a sell out..he is a comedian/actor and he goes where the work is available and they want him....

that's for sure he is much better off being remembered for full hous and a f h v even thought I never have liked funniest home videos myself

Bob Saget's whole stand-up persona seems to center on "Look, I played the dad on Full House, but yet, I can still be edgy too!" It just gets stale really quickly once the novelty of hearing Danny Tanner drop f-letter bombs wears off. I guess, I don't care much for comedians who are vulgar just for vulgar's sake.
