TV If "Family Matters" passed-down...

We know that "Girl Meets World" is a hit and "Fuller House" is on the horizon, but...

What if "Family Matters" did the same thing?

I think it would be called "The Urkels" or be involved with Steve and Laura Urkel, they'd live next door to The Winslows, and they'd have three children...Stephanie Urkel, a son, and another daughter.

It could happen!...

I'd watch! Bring it on!

I can just see it now...a dream come true....the new ABC Friday night line-up...the all-new TGIF...

8pm: Fuller House
8:30pm: The Urkels
9pm: Girl Meets World (after it leaves the Disney channel)
9:30pm: Steppin' on Up (Step by Step spin-off)

Unfortunately it looks like Fuller House is going to end up on Netflix if the online rumors are true I'm shocked ABC may have passed on it! I know Paul Lee doesn't want to skew too young or old but the TGIF stuff is for every age! He's finally ready to try bringing it back and I hope to God he doesn't half ass it this time.

It's completely possible Fuller House could end up on ABC in the end, we will see. Patrick Duffy wants to bring Step By Step back, we'll see how far he gets. There actually are rumblings about Family Matters and even Perfect Strangers too. 2016 could be the best year of TV in 20 years..it'll depend on how much materializes, what materializes and what doesn't.

At any rate, whatever he does Paul absolutely needs Girl Meets World at the very least for any serious TGIF revival effort. As GMW moves forward the producers and writers are saying they fully intend and want to deal with more serious issues. They're saying they're exploring the idea of adding in a gay character even! I just really can't see Disney Channel, who already avoids it's shows dealing with serious issues just bring okay with them wanting to do serious issues. I've said since it premiered it needs to be on ABC. I'm hoping at the Upfront next month that Paul will say he picked it up and will move it over.

But in the case of 3 of the 4 shows you listed in your hypothetical TGIF schedule, the domino pieces seem to at least be lining up for the possibility it could play out that way. We'll just have to watch the Upfront next month as well as through the summer and fall and see how it plays out.

Excuse me, but !

Then again, I wonder if Laura wouldn't have divorced Steve by now...

As much as I love FM, I wouldn't really like the idea of a new show. Steve Urkel as a teen was funny, but who would really want to see a grown man walking around, acting like that. Jaleel accepts Urkel past more than he did years ago, but I don't really think he would like the idea of playing Steve Urkel again regularly.

If they would revive the show, I guess that they would make Steve more "mature". He was trying to change himself during the last season...

But either way, I still can't stand the thought of them showing Steve and Laura being happily married. No way!

If they do a remake it will be sad because the lovely Michelle Thomas (Myra) won't be there.

I think they need to do a TV movie but not a full-blown series.

True...I only said "if" because anything can happen.

PS-Another character for "The Urkels" would be Steve's Boss...I think James "The Angry Video Game Nerd" Rolfe would be good as him...

If they wanted to be really radical, they could have Steve married to Myra, and have another actress play her.

That would be cool (even though I really can't see anyonbody but Michelle Thomas as Myra).

Ditto. I couldn't see anybody else play that part. I still miss her.

Then, in that case, Steve would be a rich and famous inventor and a single parent (he probably managed to sneak at least one child or two out of Laura before she divorces him, or I dare say he divorces her after realizing he need not spend his life tied down to one woman now that he's rich and famous ha ha ha). He'd be dating supermodels, but I don't see how that could work into the spin-off.

Ha! Not that I want to defend infidelity, but that would almost serve Laura right!

Yeah, more than likely, it would be Steve who would become a swinging pimp AFTER Laura leaves him for Stefan (of course, who else would she leave him for), and Steve finds out Myra is dead (to commemorate Michelle Thomas' real-life death). However, Steve would also not become a famous billionaire until AFTER Laura divorces him LOL.
