I'll never understand what Mother Jefferson had against Louise. Louise is like one of the nicest, compassionate, unselfish people in the world. I guess Mother Jefferson was just a typical old biddy who thinks that nobody is good enough for her son.

That is EXACTLY why! Louise was a sweetheart and put up with it! Mother Jefferson took advantage of that! George was her baby boy and nobody would ever be good enough for him in her eyes, and she had a very nice, good daughter in law and she knew it, but she thought she could still hold on to her son and be the most important woman in his life easier being that Louise was putting up with her. If Louise was a tougher more aggressive type and wouldn't put up with it, Mother J couldn't be doing that!

OMG I have two sons, I hope I don't come off like that with their girlfriends!!!!!!! LOL!!!

I was 12 in April of 1975 when the Jefferson's premiered.

I wasn't born until 1982 but I still love The Jeffersons! It's my favorite show from the '70s!

Can you believe that Louise (Isabelle Sanford) was actually 20 years older than George (Sherman Hemsley)? Crazy, huh? She was actually old enough to be his mom. What's crazy is that they don't look like they are 20 years apart!

You're right. And if either of your future daughter in laws are as sweet, kind and thoughtful as Louise, you will be very lucky!

Right? Unbelievable! Louise (Isabelle) was born in 1917 and George (Sherman) was born in 1938. Crazy stuff. At the most, they look about five years apart. Hard to believe it's actually 20 years! That means Louise was really 57 years old when The Jeffersons debuted. George was 37.

I had read before that Isabel Sanford was a lot older than Sherman Hemsley. I was surprised than too!!!! They look about the same age . Isabel/Louise looks really good for her age ,at 57 than, she looks a lot younger!

Yes, they looked to be about the same age. Louise looked very young for her age, and George looked older for his age. Well, they made it work, because they really were believable as a married couple.
