Default Rob & Laura's 2 houses

Love the floor plan of the Petri home - huge kitchen & the master bedroom in a separate location from the other bedrooms.

But there were a couple of episodes that featured their previous house. One was the storyline about how the Petris & the Helpers bought new homes next door to each other. The other episode reflects back to the day that Ritchie was born & riding to the hospital in a laundry truck.

Then there's the episode where Rob is convinced they brought the wrong baby home from the hospital which takes place in the newer house. Seems very unlikely that they would have moved while Laura was in the hospital. Why wouldn't this inconsistency be resolved before the shows were taped/aired? Always wondered about this!

don't know if you've ever noticed, but a lot of the old shows have mistakes like that. It's because when they first aired the writers didn't think that people would be watching them over and over and over....Or maybe they had a small budget and they simply couldn't afford to correct errors (that's what happened with THE 3 STOOGES shorts)

In the audio commentary on the DVD's, Carl Reiner admits that they made a "boner" having them in the old house when she went to the hospital and then suddenly having them in the new house when she got back.

And in the episode where they buy the new house, wasn't Ritchie already born? I haven't seen that episode in many years, but that is my recollection, that he was already a couple years old. If that's true, it really makes no sense: Living in the old house when Laura goes to the hospital; living in the new house when Laura comes home from the hospital; buying the new house long after Ritchie is born (which would imply that they had broken into the house in the episode where she comes home from the hospital because they hadn't even bought it yet).

The episode is "Your Home Sweet Home Is My Home," and I just found the synopsis on imdb. It says, "Back when Laura was newly pregnant with Ritchie, she and Rob knew they needed a bigger house and went house-hunting with Jerry and Millie . . . . " Okay, so she was pregnant in that episode where they bought the house. Which means they would have already bought it when they went to the hospital, although they were still living in the old one.
