Default First 4 episodes of the show

Can someone please tell me how and why the closing credits for the first four episodes of Good Times were butchered?

I think I mentioned this 10 years ago, but it's worth repeating lol

I have an issue with episodes 2, 3, and 4 (Black Jesus, Too Old Blues, and God's Business Is Good Business, respectively). During the closing credits for these episodes, there is a "blackout" between the time they show "Executive Producer: Norman Lear" and "Associate Producer: Camilla Dunn".

In God's Business Is Good Business, the words to the closing theme song "..thinking how it's almost hand-me-down" is completely missing.

For some reason, I think the alternative ending song (shown on TV Land's version of Black Jesus) was initially used, and ended up in syndication. That episode had the longest "blackout"
The uncut episode has the original ending song we've grown to love.

Could it be because the first 4 episodes were directed by different directors (usually more than one) and Herbert Kenwith started directing the show from episode 5 to the end of season 3?

Comments and suggestions please

I thought the replacement song for Black Jesus was on the DVD also. If not that would be weird

Nope....only the syndicated version we see on TV (that doesn't have the tag scene).

The uncut version has the standard ending

However, in Too Old Blues and God's Business Is Good Business. the blackouts are the same in both the uncut (DVD) and syndicated versions.

It's weird indeed
