She did! That jealousy thing was over the top. I don't know how she hung on to Andy when she was always assuming the worst like that.
I liked Ellie too.

What, no Peggy option? She was certainly the best looking of them.

Me either. She got mad at him just because he called her "third party" instead of using her name. He didn't mean any harm by the way he said it. It kills me when he comes into the courthouse and she leaves out saying "the name is Helen Crump C-R-U-M-P!!! and she called Thelma Lou childish

It's hard to argue with that, but it seems everyone involved in the relationships-- Andy, Helen, Ellie, Peggy, Mary... Barney, Thelma Lou, unseen Juanita-- had an "attitude problem." Andy claimed because Ellie gave Opie a free ice cream cone that she was making a "down payment on a husband." That's attitude on his part, while on Ellie's part, when she heard this she made him some concoction that burned his tongue in revenge. She always seemed to be a threat to Andy, as Helen was also, too often. Thelma Lou may have been basically steady, but she could be oversensitive at times, and did like to play Barney's ego against her own; a few times it's even implied that she was the 'aggressor' in the relationship, when we see Barney emerge from her dark living room with lipstick all over his face.

Essentially, as this is comedy, they are all given to suspicion and overreaction at times, or else where would be laughs be? One thing to think about, though-- as Barney/Thelma Lou and Andy/Helen so often mention going to the diner, they should have met up with Juanita, the waitress, there. Andy, of course, knew that Barney saw Juanita and 'sweet-talked' her on the phone, but what about Thelma Lou (and Helen)? Did Juanita and Barney manage to keep what was between them hidden, without even giveaway looks? Since Barney couldn't hide anything about what he was thinking-- often the funniest of his characteristics-- how was this managed?
