Crazy Vince Gilligan Pleads w/ Fans to Stop Throwing Pizzas on Walter White's Roof

Vince Gillian Urges "Breaking Bad" Fans to Stop Throwing Pizzas on Walter White's Roof
3/11/15
by Aaron Couch

Vince Gilligan has had it with fans harassing the real-life owners of the home where Walter White lived in on "Breaking Bad".

Gilligan used a few minutes at the top of Tuesday's "Better Call Saul" Insider Podcast to urge "Breaking Bad" fans to be respectful when visiting the Albuquerque house now famous as the home of the White family.

The house, which was used for exterior shots of "Breaking Bad", has become a tourist attraction, as have many other "Breaking Bad" landmarks. For the most part, its owners have been fine with fans stopping by to take photos, but things have deteriorated recently.

"Lately, we're hearing from the owner that folks are wandering on to her property, and are being rude to her when she comes out and basically says 'you're on my property,'" said Gilligan.

"They are throwing pizzas on roofs and stuff like that. Let me tell you, there is nothing original or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady's roof. It is just not funny. It's been done before. You are not the first."

In season three's episode 'Caballo Sin Nombre', Walter brought over giant pepperoni pizza to his home in an attempt to make amends with Skyler (Anna Gunn).

When she rejected his overtures, he threw the pizza on the roof in frustration — with Cranston famously doing the move in one shot. The scene has become a fan favorite, but the reenactments of it have grown old fast for Gilligan and the homeowner.

"We love our fans. I don't love those fans. I don't consider them fans," said Gilligan.

Jonathan Banks, who plays tough guy Mike Ehrmantraut, added on the podcast, "If I catch you doing it, I will hunt you down."

That is hilarious but so annoying for the people who live there!

"Breaking Bad" Homeowners are Sick of People Throwing Pizza on their Roof
by Sarah Weldon
Oct. 13, 2017

It’s been four years since "Breaking Bad" ended in 2013, but Walter White has been immortalized by… pizza throwing. More specifically, fans have been throwing pizzas on the real-life house where the famous scene of Bryan Cranston’s Walt tossing a pie on his roof was shot.

All day, non-stop, there’s people up and down this road. They park in front of our driveway and block us in,” said a neighbor to local Albuquerque news channel KRQE.

Because of all this, the home’s owners have started construction on a six-foot-tall, wrought-iron fence according to KOB 4, another local news channel. Unfortunately, fans have even tried to go through the construction to snap a clear pic of the house.

This actually stretches all the way back to 2015 when "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan got involved and kindly asked fans inspired by the scene to stop throwing pizza on the roof of the Albuquerque home.

That was a great toss of that pizza onto the roof by Mr. Cranston!

I did not see "Breaking Bad," when it first aired on cable tv. I've been watching the dvds and the actors and the storylines have been routinely superb. Creator/writer Vince Gilligan really keeps you guessing about what's going to happen next.

I've also been watching "Yellowstone" on dvd and it pales very badly in comparison to the unfailingly outstanding, "Breaking Bad." Comparing "Yellowstone" to "Breaking Bad," is like comparing "The Closer" to "The Sopranos."
