I have been working at this one restaurant for the past 4 years. Its a decent job. The only thing is is that they have no daytime dishwasher during the day. So when I come into work for the evening there is huge piles of dishes plus dishes coming from the dining room. Most of the crew that we have now is all new because a lot of our older ones have left over the past 2 years. We used to have some good ones that would keep up on the dishes during the day, but the new ones don't. I have tried saying something to the boss before but it fell upon deaf ears. Our turnover rate is VERY HIGH. In the past 4 years, I have seen so many come and go I lost track. As far as dishwashers go- the ones that work opposite nights that I am not there-we have gone through 13 in 4 years-that's a lot. I like to work and I don't mind if there is a huge pile of dishes once in a while, but it is getting to be every time I go into work now, even if they are not busy during the day.

That would be really annoying and it seems like your boss doesn't care but that's weird that they wouldn't have a daytime dishwasher. Can you talk to someone higher up or something? Even if you ended up having to do double duty by washing the dishes yourself, you should be given a raise or something.

That's pretty lousy. I can imagine how frustrating it could working with those who don't pull their fair share. If the boss doesn't seem to care then I don't know what to say. Seems like an issue that could be resolved easily with a little management from the boss. It doesn't seem like you are happy. Have you considered looking for something else?

Once while working at a McDonald's I come in one morning and had to clean up poop that someone did right outside the restroom and all I got out of it was a free meal.

Well I was in for a late lunch yesterday and I was visiting outback with the cook and I saw the other dishwasher came in a 1/2 hour early. I went in the office and peaked at his time card and he has been clocking in early for a while and they have never said anything. The other dishwasher that just quit a week ago told me he always clocked in a 1/2 hour early and nothing was ever said. So from now on I am clocking in a 1/2 hour early. Then I found out why one of our drivers abruptly quit a month ago. He forgot to do something really minor and the boss's daughter that helps out screamed at him at the top of her lungs and made him do her work.

I worked as a dishwasher for almost two years. I've seen many other dishwashers come and go at that time, what got me was when a punk-ass kid said "I wasn't doing my job". He was there for two days and I was there for almost two years at that time...and I flipped!
Then later that week, I was assigned to work with him and I told one of the managers "I can't work with him" so I quit... I knew what the hell I was doing...not some new ******* who just came in...and I vowed never to work at a restaurant again! |
