Blue Bloods is a great show, but it's losing some of its original philosophy. Originally, the show regularly incorporated the characters' Catholic religion, to show that normal people have religion. I'm not Catholic, but I really liked how this was woven into the show. It wasn't preachy, it just showed how people really are. Somewhere along the way, the whole Catholic angle was essentially dispensed with. Today, their religion is limited to them saying a 5 second prayer at dinner and crossing themselves. This is sort of what made this show unique. Now, you have Tom Selleck firing off put downs to the Cardinal ("Don't quote scripture or else I'll fall asleep") and other low ball comments about religion. Hollywood just needs to get over its incessant need to bash religion. There are a lot of good people who do religion. It's okay to continue to show this in a positive light.
