Default Apartment building layout

I remember someone posting here that apartment 201 couldn't be above the landlord's partment because of the stairwell. I want to let everybody know I figured it out. The stairs turn to the left about midway up, sqo the doors to the two apartments are facing different directions. This also puts the bathrooms directly over each other, which fits with Roper's eavesdropping and would be done to save on plumbing installation.

So you mean that what we see out the trio's apartment front door is not a view the rest of the apartment complex (making that the trio's "back" balcony), but is really a "front" view of buildings across the street? You may be on to something. Sometimes the trio does refer to "out front" as if their front door faces the street (like in "Roper's Car," "Helen's Rendezvous," and "The Party's Over).

However in some episodes the outside stairs and its upper landing is visible (like in "The Root of All Evil," when Chrissy and Larry are sitting on the steps). But this could be a landing that just turns to the left, like you said, instead of ending in front of the trio's door. Your idea does work.

Also, the trio's bathroom was not only shown to be right above the Ropers' bedroom/bathroom in "Stanley's Hotline," but also in (I think) "Ground Rules," when Stanley comes home drunk and is about to give Mrs. Roper the business and the trio's toilet tank starts dripping.

This is an awesome drawing but if it's to be believed then the trio's kitchen would be above the Ropers' living room. I think what TerriFan was saying was that the stairs turn left instead of right at that middle landing.

Exactly. People always entered from the left when seen from outside, and the ventriloquist was even seen continuing to his apartment through the window. The bathrooms align, while the stove is supported by the Ropers' front door wall. Whoever they went to for designing the place really knew what they were doing!

The real property that the Ropers/Furley was in is not an apartment building, but
a single-family house with four bedroom,2 baths and 3,204 square feet.So the stairs was just a studio set and all was real was just The Ropers/Furley place.
The real address is 2912 4th Street in Santa Monica.

That is very cool but a question though in season 8 we see that British guy Leslie move to one of the apartments walking past the window in which we see Janet pouring water onto Chrissy in the early intros, how does he get through?

I can only guess that sometime between seasons the building got a remodeling.

There had to be enough room for two people to pass by each other. It makes sense if there's going to be large stuff being moved in or out every time occupants change.

According to that drawing the passageway leads into a dead end wall which is the wall connected to Jack's closet.

And that's where Leslie's apartment might have been since Jack was able to hear voices through his bedroom walls.

We actually saw Leslie turn away from us through the window and stop at his door to enter. Since we know there are more apartments on the same floor, it doesn't make any sense for it to be a dead end, though the rest seems accurate.

But a new question popped into my head as I was writing this: What about 301? Where are he steps leading there? We saw Larry coming down the same stairwell everyone else did, so where could those stairs be? It makes no sense to put them directly above the first flight, as a turning stairwell that would cause logistical nightmares for some tenants moving in/out, despite having furnished apartments, as well as make the trip longer than necessary. So where are they?

The apartment they stayed in was very nice and I would've loved to live there and it was by the beach. Three's Company was filmed in Santa Monica, California? Did they film it at a tv studio or was it filmed at a real apartment?

It was filmed in a TV studio as evidenced by several episode goofs where the stage lights are visible.

So The Ropers apartment was really a house? I would've never thought that. When the opening credits comes on, they would film the real apartment in Santa Monica, California that Jack, Janet and Terri stayed at but the show was filmed at a tv studio in Los Angeles? Like i said when i saw the opening credits and the apartment building was shown and i saw Jack riding his bike by the beach, i was like wow. The reason i say wow is because i would've loved to live in a apartment by the beach. Jack, Janet and Terri were lucky to live in a apartment like that. Jack should've tried to have sex with Terri hahahahahahahahahaha. Didn't Terri try to make a pass at Jack before? I know he was interested in her. I know i wanted her LOL.

Don't you think it would have gotten a little crowded in a real apartment with Jack, Janet, Chrissy...the director, four cameramen, and 300 people standing around laughing and applauding?
