None of these are big issues but I still wanted to address the 2 things that sort of bug me about the set.
The first thing the same theme is played for each season menu of the show. The first season and final seasons should have different versions of the theme playing during episode selection. The theme from season 2-6 is played for each season during episode selection. The second issue I have is with the quality of the final seasons never released to DVD. It is not a huge deal considering the age of the series but I am shocked that they haven't been remastered. I watched episodes from CTS in Canada that had better quality so I am sure remastering could have happened if they wanted it. Either way I still enjoy the sets and continue to marathon the episodes on weekends. |

I'm in Season 5 now. I too noticed they used the 2-6 theme in the menus for all the seasons and I found that strange. I also see that in Season 5 the closed captions are ahead of what's being said on screen at the moment and I've tried it in more than one player. I don't know how that defect got there.

That Facts release is not the only one that has the same theme being used for all menus; IIRC, all of the releases of the original Dallas used the 1978 pilot theme.

On the picture quality...it depends where you see them...on my blu ray 1080 p TV the quality is just ok....but when I see it on my mac book pro the picture quality is actually very good....and I agree it should have been remastered. Hart to Hart a much older show has a better picture quality on my blu ray TV set...it is remastered...the picture is crisp and clear...Shout also released that show |

Really?? I still have not gotten the Boxset cuz I don't have 150 bucks to spare but I have seasons 1 through 5 and I noticed quality changes too on those DVDs from seasons 4 and 5. They look a bit grainy. Still very clear but you can tell a slight difference. Maybe it's just me.
That's crazy though about the theme songs you said. You mean all nine seasons have the same opening theme????? Which one? The Eastland/Edna's Edibles theme (seasons 2-6)? So no Season 1 theme version? No Over our Heads version?? That sux out loud , for real. Do they atleast show the proper opening clip scenes per the proper year, right? |

^ The original poster was talking about the music played during the episode/main menu selection. The actual theme songs for each episode are correct.

In hindsight I think buying it directly from Shout is a huge bonus because if you pre order their sets you get them 1 month early and you also get free shipping. The discounts for Shout Factory are amazing as well. With sets like these I always buy them directly from the company that makes them because they ship the sets with care. I have gotten several damaged items from Amazon and Ebay because they don't always package their DVD sets well. It is so great to order something from Ebay or Amazon and get excited waiting for the set then when it finally arrived their are discs sliding around in the box or the packaging is damaged. |
