This may have been addressed in an earlier thread, but I've looked at several pages of the MTM thread and don't see it.
Does anyone know how he MTM production company came up with the kitten as their logo? Was it a play on the old MGM logo of the lion? If that's the case, it would make sense as both companies have three letters and two M's. Whatever the reason, it was a brilliant logo.

Probably Mary's idea. It was her kitten, Mimsy.

I like the last season 3 episode where, instead of the cute kitten, Mary does an imitation, Elmer Fudd, I think.

I think that kitten logo is adorable! I didn't know that MTM came up with that on her own!

According to one of the commentaries on the DVDs, the producers found the kitten in a litter and they had to get a good shot of it for the logo so they dabbed a little bit of milk on its paw so it would look down and lick it. They got the shot they needed and they reversed the film so that they would get the kittens tongue in the shot. The meow came from the sound files.

HCH, that's interesting. I don't have the DVDs so hadn't heard that. I like the "extras" they put on DVD releases.

Wasn't the kitten's name "Mimsie?"
And in the Hot in Cleveland episode where TMTMS ladies reunite, the kitten appears on a window sill at the end of the episode. |

I assume it's a spoof on the MGM Leo the Lion logo. But I've always thought it was very cute.

Every time we watch an MTM episode, when the MTM productions logo comes up, my pug dog barks at the cat right after it meows...EVERY SINGLE TIME!

On The White Shadow, another MTM production, instead of Mimsie at the end logo, they used a black and white kitten bouncing a basketball. The kitten looked like a cat we had at the time.
