Update: Laurie Holden Drops Out of "Chicago Med"
"The Walking Dead" Alumna Laurie Holden Joins "Chicago Med"
by Vlada Gelman February 20, 2015 "The Walking Dead‘s" Laurie Holden didn’t survive the zombie apocalypse, but perhaps she’ll have better luck saving human lives on "Chicago Med"? The actress will co-star in the potential "Chicago Fire" spinoff, which will be introduced this season as an hour of the mothership series. Per our sister site Deadline, Holden will appear in Episode 19 of "Fire" as Dr. Hannah Tramble, a fearless, brilliant ER surgeon whose tough as nails childhood has given her a dark edge. She joins the previously cast S. Epatha Merkerson as the head of the hospital, Yaya DaCosta as a nurse and high school acquaintance of firefighter Kelly Severide and Nick Gehlfuss (Shameless) as a doctor and the brother of "Chicago P.D.‘s" Jay Halstead. http://tvline.com/2015/02/20/chicago...en-er-surgeon/ |

Laurie Holden Discharges Herself from "Chicago Med"
by Ross A. Lincoln August 12, 2015 Well before the "Chicago Fire" spin-off’s November premiere, NBC’s upcoming "Chicago Med" has lost one of the main cast as "The Walking Dead" alum Laurie Holden has departed from the show. “I am so grateful to Dick Wolf, my fellow cast members, NBC and the entire Chicago Med team for their understanding,” Holden said in a statement. “Sometimes we must make tough choices and, for family reasons, not doing Chicago Med is one of those for me at this time. I know the show is going to be a huge success and I’ll be watching.” Holden’s departure occurred just prior to TCA, though only now has become the subject of discussion. “It was Laurie’s decision to opt out of the series,” a spokesman for the series said in a statement. “We are sorry to see her go. We are currently casting additional new roles which we hope to have confirmed very soon.” Holden appeared in the show’s "Chicago Fire" backdoor pilot back in April, in the role of troubled ER surgeon Dr. Hannah Tramble. She won’t be recast, and instead, three new female roles will be added: an emergency pediatrician, a charge nurse, and a young first year resident. The second spin-off of "Chicago Fire", following "Chicago P.D.", "Chicago Med" premieres Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 10 p.m. on NBC. http://deadline.com/2015/08/walking-...ed-1201498364/ |
