Beaver was a nickname his brother gave him. So, what animal would an older brother nickname a somewhat mischievous little girl? I guess it all depends on her character. A really loud, prattling one might be "Blue Jay" for instance....

I'm sorry. Counterfactual history interests me. Especially when you consider how much further apart the sexes were in the fifties and sixties. For example, Scout Finch of "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a tomboy by 1930s standards, but, by modern standards, she's quite girly.

Mongoose would be a good name. Little creature that can kill a cobra. Maybe gucy for short.

As a little sister, I like the question. Hard to believe that Scout would be considered a girly girl. Maybe I am missing something.

Wally started calling Beaver Beaver because he couldn't pronounce Theodore, so he most likely would have said the same for his sister if her name was Theodora. Though I doubt June would have gone along with calling her daughter by an animal nickname.

If LITB had been based around a little girl, I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that by the final seasons, the child actress would have ended up like Lauren Chapin's Kitten on Father Knows Best - by the end, Chapin was 15, wearing a bra and looked like a young woman.... but Kitten still wore little girl's dresses and still had little girl's hairstyle.
