Default Why I Hate Watching New Shows

TV Season after TV Season I check out new shows that sound interesting to me on the Broadcast Networks. Then I get attached and almost every Upfront season the new shows I watch get cancelled.

So far this year I've only lost The McCarthy's. But I expect to see Forever get cancelled in May also. Last year I lost Growing Up Fisher but was happy that About a Boy got renewed to probably only be cancelled this year. I can never seem to win.

Even though I've gotten sick of this happening it still didn't stop me from watching the premiere of Fresh Off The Boat this week. I really enjoyed it and will watch it expecting no Season 2.

As for Forever I will watch the rest of Season 1 (8 eps left) and pray for a Season 2. Even though I know it looks highly doubtful at this point.

What I try to do for the most part though with new shows I want to watch is wait until it gets a Season 2 and wait for Season 1 to come to Netflix. Last year I watched Seasons 1 and 2 of Once Upon a Time on Netflix and got caught up on Season 3 on Hulu before this fall when Season 4 began. I am currently working on Arrow Season 1 and plan to watch Season 2 and binge watch Season 3 when it comes to Netflix and hopefully be able to watch Season 4 as the new episodes premiere.

Luckily the pilots so far sound terrible so I have no worries about becoming interested in new shows this fall as of now.

Anyone else hate watching new shows on the Broadcast networks?

They're not. 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation are 2 of the unfunniest shows I've ever seen. Community was a bit better but I still dropped it after 2 episodes.

I thoroughly enjoy (soon to be enjoyed) Parks and Recreation, although I could never really get into 30 Rock and gave up on Community after one season. I wouldn't describe Parks and Recreation as 'laugh out loud' funny, but its very good!

My husband and I try all new shows with the exception of Reality.

Honestly we really dislike Reality TV and that's mostly what's on these days. The sitcoms that are on just aren't funny to us and some are crude, not appealing to us personally. The shows we've liked have gotten canceled even though the ratings were good.

We loved Longmire , it was a popular show and it was trashed. A lot of people still hope someone else will pick it up but I know that won't happen.

We loved Harry's Law and it had great rating but the network felt the viewers were older and I guess sadly that's a bad thing these days.

We also really enjoyed The Mentalist and truly feel CBS murdered that show by moving it to Sunday nights. Half the time football replaced it and when it did come on after the games, it was on late. Then they messed with the cast and changed it all up. Viewers got sick of it all.

All in all my husband and I are fed with the trash they call shows today and when they do have good shows they get rid of them. We just have a couple of shows we continue to watch, other than that we watch DVD's.

The only new show I'm hoping doesn't get canned is "The Mysteries of Laura". Debra Messing is perfect in this role and it would highly disappoint me if it doesn't get a 2nd season.

I've just started watching "Fresh Off the Boat" and I like what I've seen so far. I think it'll do pretty good if they stick with the original concept and don't stray too far from the restaurant, school, & home storylines.

I have high hopes for The Odd Couple. Most of the comedies I watch have gotten the ax too. Hopefully Fresh gets renewed.

We can't get unlimited internet where we live so there is no way to watch shows online (Netflix Streaming). I had a Netflix account a few years ago for movies etc.. but it didn't work out. It took forever sending things back and forth and we actually received so little not to mention the defective DVD's.

I also don't like to commit to new shows; it takes me a while to get inside the head of the character and I'm not willing to do that if they're going to disappear on me.

I used to record the new shows that looked funny, then when they were renewed I'd binge watch them. But my new DVR only records 5 episodes of a series so that's over. I can get a series on Free on Demand but then I have to sit through commercials.

For the record, I adored Harry's Law and found 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation unwatchable.

I already do watch it. That was one of the new shows I didn't wait for since I used to like Boy Meets World so much. Besides I'm more apt to watch Disney Channel Original Series since Disney Channel isn't cancel happy with their shows. It's already renewed for a Season 2 so it must be doing well enough for Disney.

In the past I've mostly discovered shows via reruns like 30 Rock and Modern Family (best show ever I might say) but I haven't warmed up to The Office, Parks And Rec and the only Community episode I've seen was the G.I.Joe one.

Recently I've been trying to give the new season shows a try but many have failed miserably (The Crazies, Sean Saves The World, Dads, The Michael J. Fox Show).

For the 2014-2015 season I gave Cristela a chance (sucks), The McCarhy's (boring), black-ish (got tired of it) and now Fresh Off The Boat which looks promising but I'd have to see few more episodes.
