Stupidity in Good Times...
James not even going to his job interview, because of the chance he just may get rejected.... Way to make sure you don't get rejected, idiot! Just don't show up at all! That'll show them!
Luckily, he did say they gave him another interview, and he said he'll go this time....Edna and Roz robbing the Evans. Did they really think the Evans wouldn't call the police on them later on after they got the money? Plus, I love how Roz could clearly tell something was wrong when Florida was writing letters instead of numbers, but couldn't tell the Evans were playing her when they claimed that Edna said she was going to cheat Roz out of her share of the money. Though, Roz did admit that Edna really did cheat her out of stuff that should have been hers in real life, so she would have no reason to believe that Edna wouldn't cheat her again. Thelma saying she doesn't care why Lloyd was in jail before. Pure stupidity. He could have been a rapist or a murderer for all she knew! Thelma was also kind of dumb to let Ray in the house alone with her to wait for Willona. He had given her a lewd, lusty stare just a few months ago, and she let him be with her alone. Stupid. Michael was stupid to let Mrs. Dobbs know that Willona wasn't married. He should have known to keep his mouth shut.... Michael was stupid when he said he was going to help Cleatus with ONE suitcase. People don't need help with ONE suitcase. If Cleatus had 2 suitcases, one with the stolen money, and one with his belongings, that would have been okay. Florida was stupid when she harassed James into giving back the $2,000, knowing that Borgen's only gave James a $50.00 gift certificate for giving them back $27,000 that was stolen from them (Borgen's). $2,000 should have been the appropriate reward money anyways.... Well, I guess Florida was morally smart, but financially stupid... JJ was stupid when he inadvertently ratted out Penny to her mother. What's weird in a deleted scene(at least in syndicated reruns), Thelma did mention that JJ told her he thought Penny was acting really strangely around her mother, though in the kept scene, JJ doesn't look suspicious at all..... |

He implied that she went to the movies by imitating her Mae West routine.

I have two:
James not grabbing back the salt and pepper shakers when it was obvious the gambling addict was going to hawk them for cash. When he started out the door with them, James' point was proven. James not beating the hell out of Mad Dog! He would wail on a kid Michael's age who refused to study, but "feels sorry" for the thug that shot his son???? |

As for Mad Dog, James was shown to have compassion for people. He saw that Mad Dog waa already down(his mother had slapped him and told him she hated him and he was crying) James would have been kicking down a down dog. James was ready to kick Mad Dog's ass when he was being arrogant and cocky, but felt sad when he saw him crying and broken down. James even implied that in theory, he shouldn't feel sorry for someone who shot his son. James also showed compassion for Ernie when he saw that Ernie was a troubled gambling addict and didn't kick his ass for stealing the silver salt and pepper shakers and didn't kick his ass for stealing them. He covered for Ernie when the thugs came to beat him up for his gambling debts. I think he said something like,"Yeah, Ernie came here for about an hour, but then ran off into the night about 3 hours ago." James felt he needed to protect Ernie becauae Ernie had helped him out years ago. James felt compassion for the salesman when Thelma told him he was blind. At first, James wanted him to stop hustling his family and get the hell out of his house, but Thelma said, "Daddy, he's blind!" And James immediately had a chagrined, horrified, expression on his face like,"Wow! I've been a Monster to him!" And begun sucking up to him and gave him money for the Encyclopedia Books. Lol He got hardnosed again when he realized the Blind Salesman got him to sign a contract that could cause them to lose their house if they missed payments! And then had the nerve to pretend to be calling his boss to void the contract(The phone was disconnected) James had a "I got you bitch," expression on his face and after he finished with his "fake" call, Jamed implied he wanted to punch him by putting his hand into a fist and asking the blind salesman to "read" what his hand was saying. LOL. The salesman played dumb. Luckily Florida was able to counterscam him into thinking that she was calling the police on him and he gave James his money back and tore up the contract(It was creepily implied that he scammed many other people by how big the wad of cash he took the money out was. I was flabbergasted at the huge implication and Florida and the audience were horrified. I don't blame them).
