Did Anyone Notice? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I didn't know they couldn't show real books in the bookcase? I was watching Wally's Test and behind Wally in Ward's den I noticed some of the books and they distort the titles. Just got a new HD TV and you can read everything. Some of the titles were The Other Side of the Corn (no such book), Last of the W______, not Mohicans, The Sensualists, An American Vacancy not Tragedy. A Treasury of Biograpy?? Several other books I can't read. Weird huh? Just looked up one of the authors, Edgar Johnson, he was indeed an author of A Treasury of Biography so I guess he's a legitimate author, they snuck one in.

That's really funny! I guess the set designers were having a little fun with those fake titles. “The Sensualists” sounds kind of questionable reading material for the Cleaver home; what would June say? A while back somebody on one of the LITB boards posted that they freeze framed on a letter in one of the episodes and read the text of the letter, and it was a sort of joke text.

There seems to be a difference in what you can show on tv and what you can show in the movies. I have never seen a brand name product on tv as set dressing, where brand names are everywhere in the movies.

Hmm, just notice we say IN the movies and ON tv. I wonder why?

So when Legal watches the edit of a show and see's an unapproved logo they will burn down heaven and earth to make it disappear.
This means there are NO accidental logos seen on TV or film. No matter how subtle if you see it then it got cleared."

It's like in the old commercials they couldn't say the name of the competing product so they said Brand X. Like Bounty Paper Towels always said the leading brand now I see they can actually say another product name.

I imagine if they showed actual titles of books and the real author's names then they would have had to pay royalties to those authors just like they they do to musicians when their songs are used on TV shows.

Who would have thought that when that guy typed all that filler that we would be scrutinizing the letter in the future. It really is very funny and reminds you it was just a TV series and not real life or anything like real life.
