I wonder what made the producers of this show choose Hooker as the title characters name. I'd think they would wanna choose something else.

It probably sounded cooler like most other cop/action shows with one name titles (eg. Hunter, Macgyver, Magnum P.I.)

All of those names sound a lot cooler than Hooker. My point was that hooker is another word for prostitute.

I always thought it an odd choice too. I don't remember exact details, but I remember the cast being on the old Family feud with Richard Dawson. One of the cast members, I think Heather Locklear, joked about not wanting to say the name of the show on the air, but Dawson assured her it would be all right.
