Default tv equipment

I just received my Comcast cable bill. Went up $35.00 since last month. Was paying $162. Now it is almost $197.00 . I have 2 converter boxes, one with a DVR and 3 adapters. 2 sets I don't watch that much both with the adapters and I was thinking if flat gadgets work that you see advertised work. You have seen the ads, man out in boat, woman in her kitchen, man on his couch, they all says they picks up basic stations. I was wondering How well do they work. Correct to say you buy the gadget and no more payments for that. I would still keep some Comcast equipment. But could I cut down if I buy over the air equipment? All I have looking for, are a few over the air stations for the not watched much tv rooms. Are Antenna tv, Cozi TV and Met TV over the air? As you see I am into retro tv. Then a few local stations too I would like. What is the set up on over the air stations?
Any thoughts? thank you.

Go to any electronics store and they'll give you all the info you need to get an OTA Antenna.

$197 a month? mg: That's over three times the price I paid for Pay-TV when I "Cut the Cord" in 2007!

Yeah, your best bet is to try a regular antenna from a reputable place as already mentioned.Personally I'd stay away from almost anything that's advertised nowadays on American TV. That flat gadget you mentioned that they advertise is probably just a very cheap antenna, and they're just trying to make it seem like it's some kind of new innovation.I've never seen the ad though.

If you have an HDTV then a regular rabbit ears antenna from those 99 cent bargain stores do the work too.

ONe tv is an older boxy set currently with an $2.99 adapter hooked up to it. I was thinking I could save $36.00 (12 times 3) but then if If I need a adapter on my old set, it wouldn't be feasable to buy an over air antenna. Why buy twice.
What I could do, get my courage up and called Comcast and say I am a reliable customer, could you give me another discount? I have a friend who only has very basic. Maybe 12-15 stations and she is happy. But like anything, once you have so many stations, it is hard to thin down to a few. I wish you could pay for only the ones you like.

I'm hoping to get better reception with my TV. I have amplifiers and antennas, but should I get a better converter box and/or an outdoor antenna?

TV

I bought an amplified antenna at Big Lots for $10 and was able to get about 25 channels in 3 markets (Raleigh, Charlotte, & Greensboro, NC) very clearly. When I moved, it was to an area with a lot of trees and now I can only get about 6 including Antenna TV. The antenna is well worth the money but like any other it works best if you have clear surroundings.
