In 1966, soon after his 18th Birthday (and 3 years after his retirement from acting), Jerry Mathers decided to enlist in the U.S. Air Force a year short of his high-school graduation, spending 6 years as an Air Force Sergeant.

Contrary to public rumor, Jerry WAS NOT killed in Vietnam, NOR did he ever go into Combat outside the U.S.; rather, he was stationed throughout his 6 years in the Air Force exclusively in the U.S., in part due to his fame for the sitcom "Leave It To Beaver."

Attached to this post are 2 pictures of Jerry: one in Air Force uniform and a recent picture of him today, age 66 (he'll be aged 67 in June).

Thank-you to Jerry for six years of service. Also for a lifetome of allowing us to laugh at Beaver Cleaver's adventures and at the same time learn to laugh at ourselves!
