Default Best, worst, weirdest parents/children thread

Also including grandparents since they were sometimes featured.

I saw there is a worst of the worst thread and read through a couple of pages and only saw a couple worst moms mentioned.

I'll start with worst mom since she's fresh in my mind the Ortiz wife that poisoned her husband and kidnapped her son. Later her son physically assaulted his father years after she poisoned him. Also Paloma's mom was terrible. I don't even need to explain that one for those that saw it. The mom of christophe day robbed his father of seeing his son and didn't even inform him that he was ill. Of corse I could of also went the Bradford bishop route(people that killed their children)

Best parents There are so many to mention and I hope we get to all of them, but I'll start with Steve sandlins mom and dad. Seeing steves dad gleaming with smiles when he talks about Steve shows how proud of Steve that he is and I always felt he and his ex wife were honest and deserve justice.

Worst grandparent the maples are the first to come to mind. According to wikia the baskin adult children have no relationship with their parents.

Best grandparent that comes to mind is nick scoobish's grandmother. Did she raise him? Christi Nichols' grandmother who raises the point that Christies abusive husband didn't ask if she heard from her when she allegedly left mark.

Weirdest family feud was the family that argues over whether or not a husband killed his wife I can't remember the names? It's the guy that that fled from police and returned but was never charged. The whole case was bizarre. The parents were strangely possessive and the husband was arrogant and very weird.

It would be nice to get updates on these and further mentioned cases.

Sounds like my good buddy Paul Pollis. Are you referring to the Charlotte Pollis disappearance? He fled and left a letter to the effect of "I love my wife and would never hurt her intentionally." Paul was also very arrogant and strange. Charlotte's mom was also nice and crazy.

That would be it! Thanks. I know if I thought someone murdered my daughter id probably go crazy on them. She was one of the more passionate family members ever profiled and by contrast Paul and his family seemed in a weird way calm despite losing their loved one.

She WAS passionate-- to the point I feared the child had been coached. In any case, Paul Pollis is insane. If you search the threads, he allegedly appeared on the boards and defended himself to no avail. One of my all-time UM favorites.

Worst Grandparents-- Definitely the Baskins.
Worst Mom-- Marie Hilley
Worst Husband-- Paul Pollis/Stephen Marfeo/Mark Nichols

oh really I will be searching for that thread. I do vaguely remember the coaching angle. I guess that could fall under the worst grandparent list if it's indeed true. But at what point do you engage your grandchild about their mothers alleged murder? I feel for those children to not only lose their mom but to be caught in that family feud. How do you cope

I'm with everyone regarding Charlotte Pollis's mom. I'm fairly certain that Paul did it, but yeah, the woman's a little nuts. Apparently she and Charlotte talked upwards of 10-12 times a day on the phone. I love my mom but I can't possibly imagine calling her that much. It makes me wonder how much independence Charlotte had.

Ok I'm starting to remember why she seemed strangely possessive.

How about Jeffrey MacDonald and Darlie Routier? Killing your children is pretty bad...

Yes it is I mentioned the bishop family in my first one. Sadly I don't even know if I could list every one that was featured that killed their own children. That means there are too many.

Ironically on another thread those two are among the most innocent that were ever featured.

Speaking of worst husband, Dave Davis (murdered his wife Shannon Mohr) died 2 months ago back in November in a prison hospital.

Worst Parents: Marie Hilley, Sharon Stevens' father (his name slipped my mind), Victor Simon's adoptive parents, Art Silva, Ora Prince, and the Maples (I know they're the grandparents, but look what they did to their own daughter).

Best parents: Kim Swartz, Susan Billig (and her husband), the Bradleys, Duncan Gilmore, Ross Hoffman, and many, many more. Most of the parents on UM were great.

Weirdest parents:

*Not parents, but Wanda Jean Mays' aunt and uncle seemed a little off. Why were they screaming and hollering and freaking out at 5:30 in the morning trying to break down the door? Even if she had to get up for work, that seems like an overreaction. This could possibly have contributed to the panic attack. I know they were well meaning, but I found that strange.
*Charlotte Nagi calling her daughter 14 times a day and calling early after her daughter had been up late.
*In the Dakota Double Death segment, the survivor's dad knew they were drinking and still let them drive off. I found this weird, but at least he discouraged them from taking the little girl.
*Guillermo Bonilla. First the John Lennon reincarnation thing, then watching his daughter in class through the windows? Total weirdo.

Wow Duncan Gilmore I forgot about him. What a great story that was. There are a lot of lost love cases like that where one parent got left out so you can have a best and worst parent in one. How about the English woman Delia(Goldie)that was forced to give up her baby and her dad not even looking at the baby? Well kudos to her for searching for her and reuniting.

Marie Hilley has to be the most evil mom ever featured. She went Elizabeth Ortiz on her whole family and unfortunately was a little smarter and it helped her get away with more than one attack.

The 14 phone calls per day is weird. Obsess much! And didn't she herself say she calls 14 times per day? And I do remember the Dakota double death. You are right he was a good grandfather for not letting his grandchild go but why did he let his kids drive blitzed in those elements? To his defense he may not have been able to stop them. I need to look into those others to see if I've seen them. They sound vaugely familiar.

That I do not remember I need to rewatch this one. Most of the time I've focused more on Paul because he was such a jerk in the segment and I just kind of noticed the parents to be strange on both sides.
