Smile Disappearance of Frederick Valentich

today another airplane is gone missing.

there was an episode about airplanes being abducted. here's the info

http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/w...rick_Valentich
Quote:
Details: Frederick Valentich was an Australian pilot flying a Cessna 182 light aircraft over the Bass Strait near Cape Otway when he sighted what seemed to be a UFO flying nearby in the vicinity. He was a competent pilot employed by Southern Air Services from Moorabbin, Australia near Melbourne. Upon seeing the object, he maintained radio contact with his airfield for several minutes, describing the object as it darted and swerved around him. Moments after he reported the sighting, Frederick inexplicably vanished; a series of photographs by Roy Manifold of the shoreline nearby show a strange blot resembling an explosion in the air.

Suspects: One theory is that Frederick was abducted by the object he encountered. Another theory is that he was attacked by the object or became disoriented after seeing it and crashed into the sea.
Extra Notes: This case first aired on the September 29, 1993 episode.

the guests on that episode of UM said that they think his airplane was abducted by a UFO.

since that time other airplanes like flight 370 and Flight 19 bermuda triangle have also been speculated to be abducted by aliens.

i'm open to either UFO abduction midflight or they flew into a vortex, a wormhole, a rip in the fabric of space and time.

I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona if that deal doesn't work out.

The Valentich case fascinates me to no end. To be honest, I never saw the UM segment, but rather a profile that The Unexplained Files did on the case. As I don't personally subscribe to the theory that Valentich staged the whole thing, I can only assume there was some type of mechanical failure at play. Oh hell! I just finished watching a heart-breaking 20/20. It was so depressing, I completely lost my train of thought. My apologies.

Um. If he couldn't identify it it WAS a ufo to him, unidentified flying object. It just wasn't aliens.

That is funny. Have had to explain to people in the past that a UFO doesn't mean alien beings but just something in the sky that cannot be explained or has been misidentified. The public perception post Roswell is it means little green or grey beings.

But yes it does seem to be the most likely explanation-an inexperienced pilot who exhibited reckless behaviour several times prior to this incident & a heavy interest in UFO'S ignored his training & instructions & paid the price.

Thanks for the article. I remember reading sonething similar awhile back. That source also compared it to the JFK, Jr. crash.

Sad stuff, but I can see where this pilot shouldn't have been in the air to begin with.

Yeah, spatial disorientation could account for nearly everything. A vivid imagination and weird reflections pretty much cover the rest.

That article confirmed what I suspected all along. Although the theory of Valentich staging his disappearance is an attractive one, I don't buy it.

Yeah it's strange I remember the cliff face on the ocean from the UM segment that I saw on the news tonight.
