Default Crime drama recommendations

Anyone recommend any classic or current crime dramas for me to check out?

I'm already a fan of these classics: "Murder, She Wrote", "Matlock", "Hart to Hart", "Cagney & Lacey", "Jake and the Fatman", "L.A. Law", "Cannon", "Charlie's Angels", "In the Heat of the Night", "Miami Vice", " Magnum, P.I.", "Silk Stalkings"

And these currents: "C.S.I.", "Criminal Minds", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "The Mysteries of Laura", "Scandal"

There's quite a few,but the number one crime drama I'd recommend would be the Original "Hawaii 5-0"(1968-80). It's one of the all time greats and nothing like the terrible remake. The first few episodes are hit and miss but around the middle of it's first seaon the show really hits it's stride. The final season is very weak,so I'd avoid that one.

If you like Cannon you'll probably like Barnaby Jones. It was from the same Producer and starred Buddy Ebsen as a Pvt. Eye. They even had some crossovers. Streets of San Francisco is another good one. There were a lot of great crime shows in the 1970's.

I would check out "The Wire" which is (according to some critics and fans) the best show ever on television.

If you want more light-hearted then "Castle" is worth checking out.

Even though it didn't last too long I liked Dana Delaney's "Body of Proof". "Motive" and "Forever" are also good.

These shows are more related to terrorism but I also love "24", "Homeland" and "Strike Back".

Cool

I discovered a crime drama called "Miss Fishers's Murder Mysteries" by checking out the DVDs from my library. It is an Australian TV series. It's about a woman P.I. in 1920's Melbourne. I really enjoyed it.

I love "Body of Proof"---it was cancelled too soon! It should've went for at least 1 more season.

Yes, a great show and I bought season 1. Other good ones are Quincy M.E. and Perry Mason. I particularly love the 80s movies of the show. Diagnosis Murder is another good one! I have them all on DVD the seasons of the show.

I think I'm going to try and eventually buy the complete series sets of "Columbo", "Hill Street Blues", & "Hawaii Five-O".

If you enjoy British accents and really eccentric senior citizens, try Midsomer Murders. It's about two detectives who piece together complex murder mysteries in small villages, or "midsomers."

Since I just got my 4k monitor; I just watch anything in 4K resolution. It hard on the eyes to watch 1080p and 480 is just crappy looking now! So, I hope that someone would redo the resolution to all my shows that dated in the 50s and put them in 4K screen resolution. It can be done now; with complicated software on a group of computers.

I do not even watch any TV anymore; since the resolution is only HD quality or less! You real get spoil! Color and details are so much "eye candy"; that less of a screen resolution is just hard to watch! Movie theaters movies are still okay for me for some reason!

I like the British mysteries shown on local PBS stations. Rosemary and Thyme, Father Brown, Death in Paradise, Simon & Bailey, Grantchester, DCI Banks, Inspector Lewis, and Vera are pretty good.

The CSIs, Criminal Minds, and Law Orders are on TV all the time. You might want to check out old A&E shows like Longmire, The Glades and Nero Wolfe.
