Default What's w/Jon Baker's longer hair in S3?

I thought he looked a lot more professional as a cop and just better looking in season one and two with the shorter hair. I guess the producers wanted him to grow it longer in season 3. Also, they had him stop driving that cool Mini car and start driving a truck. I read an interview Wilcox did and he said he guessed the producers didn't feel the Mini was cool or macho enough for a cop to drive.

I think it was keeping with the times. Longer shaggier hair was in style for guys than. And the truck, I like his truck. I think because his character was from Wyoming ( The actor Larry Wilcox is really from Wyoming too) . The truck was more suitable for an outdoorsy / rodeo type guy from Wyoming rather than the little car.

Yeah I don't even know what the standards are for cops and their hair length but he just looked sloppy and unkempt.

I wish they would have blonded him up a little though. It seemed his hair got darker than in the early seasons! IDK how Larry would react to having his hair colored though! He seems the type of guy that wouldn't really want to be bothered with that I think!

Yep, he was a natural blonde. A week at the beach would bring out his blonde hair. My sister has hair like that. She was born very blonde, and stayed very blonde as a little girl, than it got darker like Jon's! So she has a little "help" getting it back really blonde again!

She's lucky though, she has a much easier process than I do to become blonde! I admit , I was born a brunette!

Erik seems to like blondes, and I'm SURE they weren't all natural blondes! But his current wife is a brunette who kept her natural color!

Yes! Joyce Miller ! She was an old conniving TRAMP!!!! She totally just used him for his money!! And dragged his name through the mud in the divorce!!! I have NO idea what he saw in her, she was blonde. OK! But not that pretty and TOO OLD for him!!!!! She conned him somehow!!!!

He could have done so much better , and she turned out to be a HORRIBLE WOMAN, a really BAD wife for him!!!!

In his autobiography, he said his own Mother couldn't stand her, and he even wouldn't listen to her, and Erik LOVED his Mother! It's like this Joyce woman was a WITCH or something!!!!!

God, she looks like his "skanky" mother in those photographs..

She was a scam artist who had him CONVINCED that she came from a very wealthy family/background. Like an "old money " scenario! This is according to his Autobiography. He met her at a very vulnerable time in his life. It was after that bad motorcycle accident he had during filming. After he recovered he was still on pain killers , and they had a bad affect on him and caused depression ( Something like that, I will have to reread the book to be exact), but anyway, he took a trip to Hawaii by himself, and this woman Joyce introduced herself in the lobby of the hotel. And said her son was a big fan of his. Yes she was a much older woman and also divorced and the son was a teen already, or maybe a pre-teen (not sure)! But anyway, she swept him off his feet somehow and conned him and they ended up married! Not for very long, but well you know the rest from my first post! I have NO IDEA what he was thinking! Very strong painkillers maybe, Like how they say a guy wearing "beer goggles" will find a woman to be beautiful even if she isn't! But I'm not being mean or superficial cause as I said before this woman was horrible on the inside too!

None of his three wives have been all that great looking. But the second one, she wasn't as bad a person as the first (and prettier and younger) and they had a real marriage and two kids together. So what happened between them . I'm not going to bad mouth her, just things happen and that marriage wasn't meant to be.

The third and current wife, I'm not going to say anything bad. She has been a doll to him. a very nice wife. And they have a daughter together who is 15 or 16 now. This woman is a very down to earth type. Not the "blonde bombshells" like before. Natural color long dark hair. ( actually she was kind of pretty when she was younger). She's a natural looking lady, and still has her hair really long which is cool. And they have been happily married for years. and by all accounts she seems to really love him and not being a gold digger type!

OMG I hope the first two marriages haven't scared him off of blondes for life since I am blonde !!!!!! If I ever were to meet him I wouldn't want him to think I am a mean old blonde witch!!!!

You can order it on Amazon - It's called Erik Estrada , My Road from Harlem to Hollywood. It is a good book, has pictures too! It spans from when he was born to 1997 (he wrote it that year) when he first was with his current wife !

Or I guess it would be at the Library!! OMG I haven't even been to a Library in years! I used to love the library when I was young!

I used to love libraries when I was younger too. Nowadays I tend to get most of my books from eBay or buy them at Barnes and Noble.

YES!!! I ordered mine on Amazon! Slightly used/in good condition Hard cover ! ( Thay had it in paperback too) ! It was in really good condition, and reasonably priced!

I also got another Erik biography called " Erik Estrada's scrapbook". It was written in the early 80's when CHIPS was still on and not by him! This one was just a little paperback and it made him out to be such a goody-goody! LOL! It was an OK book, but I had already read the other one so I knew his basic biography! But this one didn't really have any "juicy details" ! It was geared for his young fans at the time as a good role model! BUT it has some REALLY good pictures in it! So for a hard core Erik Estrada fan if you have the money , it's worth getting! But not nearly as good as the" My Road from Harlem to Hollywood"!

And OMG the "Erik Estrada scrapbook" was used, and BOY was it USED!! I mean the pages were yellow, it smelled old, like it was in somebodies attic for many years! But I don't mind that. I've bought old paperbacks at yard sales like that!

So if you don't find it at the library, I say go ahead and order it. It's a good thick book, really good. Good pictures. He really lays it on the line and tells it like it was too! All about his family, his upbringing, girlfriends, friends, coming to Hollywood, getting the job on CHIPS, his marriages, after CHIPS! I think you will enjoy it!

I really never understood why Jon, a guy from Wyoming, would be driving that mini car. A little car like that would get stuck in the mud on a Wyoming ranch. Folks really need a truck to live and work in that state. I always thought Jon as a truck guy.

And his condo at the marina always seemed wrong for him too.
