It is with great sadness I announce that Joe Cocker, best known for hit records such as "Get Bye with a Little Help from My Friends" (used as the theme song for the hit '80s Family Drama "The Wonder Years"), has died today of Lung Cancer at age 70 at his home in Crawford, Colorado, USA.

Born on May 20, 1944 in Yorkshire, England, UK, John Robert Cocker had a string of hit records including "You Are So Beautiful" (which I believe Joe himself wrote) and "Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes).

Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam Baker, whom he wed in 1987.

This is the only thread for Joe Cocker's death on The Wonder Years board (as opposed to 2 already in music). When a celebrity dies there may be several relevant boards for their death. Since The Wonder Years theme song was basically written by him there's nothing wrong with this board getting notified.

Nobody said there was anything wrong with this board being notified. The fact remains that he provided no link to his topic which is commonplace when obit threads are posted. In fact, he has an annoying habit of writing his own obits when he starts a thread and never provides a link to a verifiable source. I also don't need to be told that several boards may be relevant to a celebrity's passing. I've been doing this for several years now and certainly don't need any advice. Had he provided a link, this discussion would've never taken place. Also, the theme was written by Lennon/McCartney, not Joe Cocker.
