The UK series "Broadchurch" I heard was much way better than its recently cancelled U.S version Gracepoint with David Tennant.

The U.S version of the UK comedy "Man About the House" Became Threes Company and I liked the U.S. Version (Threes Company) better. But I have seen Man about the House and it is very funny.

Being Human. I saw the BBC version and thought it was fantastic (at least the first 2 or so seasons). The Americanized version left something to be desired.

I think the American Version of 'Till Death Do Us Part (All In The Family) is hands-down the best American Version of a Foreign Show Ever...The Office is second.

Weakest Link and The Chase are both British game shows that had American remakes. I haven't seen the British Chase but the American Weakest Link was a lot better than the British.

I think ALL IN THE FAMILY is way better than the UK show it was based on TILL DEATH US DO PART.

Being an Anglophile I have watched a lot of British comedy. The one show on American TV that was the closest to it's British counterpart was Sanford and Son. In the early years the episodes were almost word for word remakes of the British Steptoe and Son.
But there were major differences. On the British series the pair are far more crueler to each other than Fred and Lamont.
I would LOVE to see an American version of the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin. It would even be more relevant today than back in the 1980s.

I remember before Empty Nest was on, Richard Mulligan was in a show called Reggie and I thought it was a show based on a british show. Could it be the one mentioned above?

It was, but it never got beyond one episode. I think its available on Youtube. The Brits did a remake of their own with Martin Clunes, a fine actor but hopelessly miscast.

According to Norman Lear he never actually watched the British version and only used the outline, everything else was based on the relationship he had with his father.

And I've always wondered what it would be like if there had been a British version of The Jeffersons.
