Default Worst TV Parents

Here's a topic to discuss the horrendous parenting we've seen on TV shows.

I think it would be hard to beat Al and Peg Bundy in terms of sitcom parents.

Soap opera parents? Wow, the list of bad parents is too long even think about, lol!

Yeah, you've got a great point. Those two are absolutely wretched human beings.

The Bundy's for sure, The Huxtables, The Simpson's, The Griffins on Family Guy.

The Winslow's on Family Matters for the simple fact they basically forgot about their youngest daughter, Judy, she just was never mentioned again. LOL...

On Soaps, many bad parents, to name a few:

Adam Chandler on All My Children---
---2 out of 3 daughters were driven to alcoholism partly because of him
----His only son turned into an alcoholic, ego-maniac who didn't care about anybody else.
-----He actually didn't know about 1 daughter (haylee) until she was a teenager.

Arlene Vaughan on All My Children:
---Not only was she an alcoholic who neglected her daughter, she actually slept with her daughter's fiance.

Lindsay Rappaport on One Life To Live:

Her list of crimes is long including:
--Accidently killing her ex-husband, who is the father of her two children.
-----Being a generally terrible mother and poor role model.

Luke & Laura on General Hospital:
---Between the two of them were mostly absent from daughter LuLu's life for various reasons--- Luke was always off chasing some adventure while Laura was either grief stricken, sick or incapacitated.

----Raised son Lucky to believe authority and rules were bad and to idolize father Luke who is a rapist.

---Laura kept secret her son Nikolas from her entire family and hardly concealed the fact that she favored Lucky.

Felicia Jones on GH:
---Basically abandoned both her daughters with their Uncle so she could go off chasing men and adventures. A neglectful parent.

Carly & Sonny on GH:
They may be the worst of all!

---Forced Michael's biological father A.J. to sign away custody by hanging him on a meat hook, plying him with alcohol (he is an alcoholic) and brainwashing Michael into thinking AJ was a horrible criminal who didn't love him.

----Raised their children in a dangerous lifestyle as Sonny is a mobster.

---Allowed their kids to join in the mob lifestyle.

And what about Henry and Alice Mitchell on Dennis the Menace? Sure they were better than many listed above, they were nicer and more respectable. But Dennis was always getting himself into trouble, and I don't remember them ever punishing him. So it was like he could do something naughty and they let him get away with it.

Adam and Kristina Braverman. Helicopter parents to the nth degree with no sense of boundaries and no ability to provide correction and/or direction when it comes their special snowflake Max. Max actually has been saddled with three disabilities: autism, his father, and his mother.

Joel and Julia are pretty bad letting that nightmarish brat Sydney get away with being a rude manipulative little snot.

Dennis needed a few spankings.

Definitely a tie between "Al & Peg Bundy" and "the parents from the Rugrats" for the worst parents...

According the the Wikia page, it was going to be later explained that Judy Winslow was sent to live with her Aunt Rachel in Detroit. She then went to Harvard and became a DA in Detroit.

^^^But frankly, I don't care if that explanation is legit or not. It seems a lot better than assuming they simply forgot about her and provides needed closure.

They planned to bring her back for the 10th season at Steve & Laura's wedding, until everyone returned to the studio and discovered that the set was already destroyed.

"Mama" June Thompson from Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo, for dating an alleged child molester accused of molesting her own daughter, and allowing Honey Boo-Boo to drink her "go-go juice," Mountain Dew and Red Bull, before pageants (another issue entirely) to get her hyped up.

Cora Mills from Once Upon a Time for killing her daughter Regina's true love, forcing her to marry the king whom she didn't love, and giving up her firstborn daughter Zelena because she felt she couldn't get a rich and powerful man if she had a baby with her.

Adding in that years later, Sonny then murdered AJ in cold blood, just as Michael was forming a relationship with him. And Carly helped cover it up once she found out he did it.
