Dick Van Dyke Sets Memoir on Aging for 90th Birthday (Exclusive)

Dick Van Dyke has signed to write Keep Moving: And Other Tips About Old Age, about his approach to growing old, publisher Weinstein Books announced.

Publication is scheduled for Fall 2015 to coincide with the actor’s 90th birthday on Dec. 13. 2015.

Editorial director Amanda Murray acquired the book for Weinstein. Dan Strone (Trident Literary) represented Van Dyke for the book deal. Paradigm reps Van Dyke on his other projects

"I’m not going to sugarcoat anything," said Van Dyke in a statement.

"Yes, your knees do hurt, your hair thins, you lose loved ones, and your memory can act like a friend who doesn’t answer the phone. But I’m going to assure people that there is a beautiful life waiting for you. There’s no reason to feel bad about getting old if you do it right. Just keep moving."

Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein added, "We are thrilled to be working with Dick. As well as motivating and moving, this will be a fun book to honor the life and career of a Hollywood legend."

Van Dyke, the star of such classics as "The Dick Van Dyke Show", Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins, continues to remain active 60 years after his first network TV appearance.

He’ll reprise his role as Cecil Fredricks in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, the third installment in the franchise which hits theaters on Dec. 19.

Van Dyke published a memoir, My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business, in 2011.

I really enjoyed Dick's last book ans I'm looking forward to this one about aging. Especially since I turned 50 this year!
